Carson Ryan, a track and field athlete at Washington High School, tragically passed away in an accident.
Ryan was a senior at Washington High School in Iowa, who quickly established himself as one of the team’s most versatile and reliable track and field athletes.
Specializing in the hurdles and middle-distance relays, Ryan made significant strides during the 2025 season, setting personal records of 16.19 in the 110m hurdles and 58.32 in the 400m hurdles at the Iowa State Qualifier in Mount Vernon.
His improvement from a 1:01.32 sophomore time in the 400m hurdles to breaking the one-minute barrier highlights his steady development and work ethic.
Beyond his individual success, Ryan was an essential relay contributor, helping his 4*800 squad clock 8:03.05 at the Iowa State Championships and anchoring winning performances in the sprint medley and shuttle hurdles relays.
Carson Ryan Passed Away Following An Accident At A Young Age
As per the reports, a Washington High School senior, Carson Ryan, passed away on Sunday, September 28, 2025, following a weekend accident.
The Washington Community School District announced that Carson was the local student who died.
The School District stated that support services are available to students, including district counselors, the school nurse, the school support team, AEA staff, and trained counselors from neighboring schools.
A vigil was held at the high school on Sunday.
Funeral arrangements have not been announced yet. KCII will provide more information as it becomes official.

The campaign aims to earn $40k, and it has collected over $33,075.
