Vincent Lombardi, a dedicated police officer of the Waterbury Police Department and basketball coach, passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at 28, surrounded by his parents and loved ones.

According to his obituary, Vincent Lombardi passed away at Smilow Regional Cancer Center at Yale New Haven Hospital after a long battle with sarcoma cancer.

Vincent Lombardi, a native of Waterbury, Connecticut, served as a police officer with the Waterbury Police Department from October 2020 until his passing.

In addition to serving and protecting his community, he was known for his ability to connect with young, troubled children and was a beloved figure in Waterbury’s Police Athletic League.

He demonstrated his outstanding athletic and coaching abilities by mentoring young athletes in their basketball development.

Vincent served as the coach for the boys’ travel basketball team, and his love for sports was immense.

He also showcased his exceptional athletic skills while playing multiple sports at Sacred Heart High School and Post University.

Furthermore, the entire Waterbury community and the Waterbury Police Department are mourning the loss of their cherished Vincent Lombardi.

The Waterbury Police Department expressed its sadness over the tragic loss of its beloved officer, Vincent Lombardi, on its official social media platform.

Vincent Charles Lombardi was born in Waterbury on April 18, 1996, to his mother, Rozanne Caruso Lombardi, and his father, Nicholas Lombardi.

His untimely passing has left a void in the hearts of his parents, Rozanne and Nicholas, and loved ones.

In addition to his parents, Vincent is survived by his elder sister, Rachel Lombardi.

He was beloved by his family and brought joy to everyone with his cheerful nature.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Vincent also leaves behind his two dogs, Kemba and Yogi.

While very little information about his parents’ professional life is available as they prefer to maintain a low profile, their social media is filled with pictures of their beloved son Vincent.

Vincent Lombardi’s kind nature and contribution to his community as a sportsman and devoted officer will always be remembered.

Moreover, his family has organized a funeral and memorial service for the late Vincent on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Church, 62 St. Michael’s Drive in Waterbury.

The burial of cremains will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury.
