Drez Bolin, a student-athlete at Waverly High School, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at the untimely age of 18, leaving his family, friends, and loved ones devastated.

Many of his loved ones are extending their heartfelt condolences to his family and paying tribute to him online.

Drez Bolin won the hearts of many with his amazing athletic skills.

Born in June 2007, Drez Bolin was playing boys’ varsity football for the Waverly High School football team in Ohio, leading his team to several victories.

Standing at 6’5” and weighing 185 pounds, Bolin showcased impressive versatility on the field.

While he primarily played as a wide receiver wearing jersey #0, in the 2024 season, he also took snaps at quarterback, donning jersey #3.

During the 2024 season, late Drez led his team to a 6-6 overall record and a 3-3 conference record, finishing third in their league.

The team was ranked #319 in the state, with Bolin contributing as a key player on both sides of the offense.

Furthermore, the untimely death of Drez Bolin has left a profound void in the lives of his family, friends, and loved ones.

Drez Bolin is survived by his parents, Amy Bolin-Hitches and Shelby Hitches, elder brothers, Trevon Bolin, Shandan Hitches, and Shane Hitches, grandmother, Sue Ann Bolin, aunt Melissa Marquez, uncle Jason Bolin, and the whole family.

Drez Bolin Was Preceded in Death By His Maternal Grandfather, Ralph Edward Bolin

The late Waverly High School football star, Drez Bolin, inherited his athletic genes from his late maternal grandfather, Ralph Edward Bolin, who passed away on December 10, 2002, at the age of 57.

Furthermore, Drez Bolin followed in the footsteps of his late grandfather in football.

Ralph Bolin was a renowned high school and college football coach. In 1979, he became the head football coach at Trimble.

Similarly, Ralph led the Cats to a 10-0 season and became the first team in the County to go to the State playoffs in 1980, winning the honorable title of Ohio Class A Coach of the Year.

In 1984, Ralph Bolin, along with his family, relocated to Waverly, where he was the head football coach until his retirement in 2002.

In addition to his coaching career, Ralph Bolin was also known for his service to the county. He was an army veteran who served in the Vietnam War.

While late Drez Bolin never got a chance to meet his maternal grandfather, he continued to carry on the family’s legacy in football to become a professional football player before his untimely death.
