Texas A&M Expected To Hire Auburn Defensive Secondary Coach

After suffering a 31-13 defeat against Maryland in the Music City Bowl, Auburn’s football team concluded the season with a 6-7 record.

Recent reports suggest that Auburn will part ways with one of its defensive staff members.

Wesley McGriff, the Tigers’ secondary and cornerbacks coach, is anticipated to depart from Auburn after just one season.

Reportedly, McGriff is set to join Mike Elko’s coaching staff at Texas A&M. This move marks McGriff’s third tenure at Auburn, having previously served in 2016 and between 2019 and 2020.

At Texas A&M, McGriff will collaborate with Ishmael Aristide, who recently joined as the cornerbacks coach.

Aristide’s association with Elko traces back to Duke, where he coached under Elko’s leadership for a season before transitioning to Texas A&M.

If the reports from Sunday materialize, this move will expand McGriff’s extensive coaching journey.
