One of the assistant cheer coaches at Meridian High School posted a disturbing video on social media reacting to the reported death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
Annika Rutz is the former assistant cheer coach at Meridian High School in Idaho.
She recently posted a video on social media, reacting with offensive language.
In the video, she wore a Meridian High t-shirt and made harsh comments, saying:
I’m not saying I wish death upon someone, but that’s what I’m f— saying for this motherf—, piece of f— s—, I hope he’s dead, is that going to get me arrested?…Today is a Good Day…
Additionally, she called his support for gun rights ironic. Later, she posted Snapchat stories confirming his death and saying that while the killing was horrible, she didn’t believe he was a good man.
The West Ada School District Responded Swiftly and Terminated Her Position!
The West Ada School District quickly responded after the video went viral.
They stated that they were shocked and saddened by the content, as it did not align with the school or district’s values.
After reviewing the situation, they decided to terminate Rutz’s employment for violating school and district policies.
They also asked the public not to share the video further. Additionally, they said they remain committed to supporting students and families with care and responsibility.
Many parents and community members were upset and demanded that Rutz be removed from the position.
Some said her comments were hateful and inappropriate:
This is just so wrong and so sad. I think she will regret this post. What is wrong with people!!??
There were 3 kids shot in Colorado today. So much anger and hate in our country and it frightens me!!
Others expressed concern about the impact of such behavior on the school’s reputation, saying:
She better be gone by tomorrow, otherwise we all need to think very seriously about leadership.
Edit: She was fired this AM.
I knew West Ada would take care of this quick, great work guys! This is why I love Meridian.
Her social media accounts appear to have been taken down, and she has not made any public statements since the incident.
Speaking out with hate cost her more than a job. Respect begins with responsibility, and Words matter.
