West Point, Mississippi Mourns Former Multi-Sport Athlete and CPA Gary Hamilton, 76, Survived by Wife Judy and Family

Gary Crawford Hamilton, a longtime West Point, Mississippi, resident and former athlete, passed away on Friday, October 10, 2025, at the age of 76, leaving his family and loved ones devastated.

While his family hasn’t yet disclosed the actual cause of his death, according to his obituary page, Gary Hamilton died peacefully at home after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on July 5, 1949, in Arkansas, Gary Hamilton was an amazing athlete, excelling in multiple sports from a very young age.

Gary was a standout basketball and tennis player in high school, leading his team to several victories and earning numerous honorable titles throughout his career.

He graduated from the University of Mississippi in 1971 with a degree in accounting and passed his CPA exam on the first attempt.

Although he didn’t pursue a career in sports, he continued to pursue his passion for sports as an avid golfer and was a great fan of Ole Miss football.

Late Gary Hamilton Dedicated His Life To Being an Exceptional CPA

In addition to his athletic journey, Gary Hamilton also positively impacted the lives of many through his remarkable decades-long career as a certified public accountant.

He worked as a CPA and Chief Financial Officer throughout his life until illness overtook him in June 2025.

Similarly, he was a member of First Presbyterian Church, EPC, in West Point.

The death of Gary Hamilton has left a profound void in the lives of his family, friends, and loved ones.

Many of his loved ones are paying tribute to the late Gary Hamilton and extending their heartfelt condolences to his family during this difficult time.

Gary Hamilton is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Judy, their son James, daughter-in-law, Claudia, grandson, Noah, mother-in-law, Fay Stembridge, sister-in-law, Kathy Hamilton, nephews Brian and Mike Hamilton, brother-in-law, Jon Stembridge, and wife Diana, nieces, Mattie and Riley, brother-in-law, Joseph Stembridge, nephew, Jess and the entire family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. James Hamilton, mother, and brother, Dr. Jimmy Hamilton.
