Professional baseball player Marcus Semien is proud to have parents like Damien Semien and Tracy White. Though the pair separated while he was still a kid, they were always with him while growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Semien’s interest in baseball arose from his dad’s love for the game. Damien played all kinds of games while at high school, including baseball, football, and track.
Although Damien played college football, his favorite was baseball, and thankfully, his son picked baseball and made his career in it.

Marcus Andrew Semien, better known as Marcus Semien, is an American professional baseball shortstop who plays for the Texas Rangers of Major League Baseball.
Semien grew up playing in El Cerrito Youth Baseball. Later, he was drafted in the 34th round of the 2008 MLB draft but opted to play college baseball for the California Golden Bears.
He was chosen as the sixth-round pick by the Chicago White Sox in the 2011 draft and made his MLB debut on September 4, 2013.
Semien has since played for the Oakland Athletics and Toronto Blue Jays before joining the Rangers in 2022.
Marcus Semien’s Parents, Damien And Tracy
Marcus Semien was born to his parents, Damien Semien and Tracy White, on September 17, 1990, in San Francisco, California.
Besides him, Tracy White has a daughter named Chynna Williams, but there is no information about her biological dad.
His parents, Damien and Tracy, attended the University of California, Berkeley, in the late eighties and began dating. They were only sophomores when Marcus was born out of wedlock.
Damien Semien was a collegiate football player for the California Golden Bears and played wide receiver for them until 1993. After graduating in 1994, he started working at a juvenile hall in California.
Similarly, his mother, Tracy, started her job at an insurance company. She currently works at EPIC Insurance Brokers & Consultants.
However, Tracy and Damien separated soon after, and Marcus started living with his mom’s family in El Cerrito, where his grandmother, Carol Philips, mostly took care of him. As both his parents spent their time working, his grandma took him to matches.
Meanwhile, his dad, Damien, often visited Marcus at his residence and took him to watch matches and practice ball every weekend.
Similarly, Tracy was happy that Marcus showed his interest in baseball from a young age. Now that he has come a long way, marking his presence in the MLB, both Tracy and Damien are proud of their son.
Meet Semien’s Stepdad, Elgin White
Marcus Semien’s mom, Tracy, is married to Elgin White. Originally from Rialto, California, Elgin tied the knot with the baseball star’s mom on November 27, 2010.
Speaking more of him, he attended Eisenhower High School in Rialto and later obtained his college degree from Las Positas College.
As per his social media handle, White currently works at the San Francisco AIDS Foundation.
He was formerly associated with different companies, including Petrochem Insulation, Inc., and Planned Parenthood Northern California.
