He currently plays as a center for Dallas Stars and is well-known for his impressive speed and agility on the ice. He is one of the league’s elite playmakers.

The star of the NHL has quite an impressive physique, standing at 185cm (6 feet 1 inch) and weighing around 91kg (200 lbs).

Seguin was very interested in hockey from a young age. He started playing hockey at the age of five or six in a house league.

He first had a run with the Whitby Wildcats of the Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA). Later, he joined the Toronto Young Nationals in Brampton, Ontario.

Having both of his parent’s rich hockey backgrounds, he developed a strong passion for hockey from a young age.

Tyler attended St. Michael’s College School in Toronto. However, he dropped the chance to carry on with his further education at the university level to become a member of the Plymouth Whalers ice hockey team.

Candace and Cassidy are the two sisters of Tyler Seguin. The two sisters also played ice hockey, just like their mother.

Candace quickly rose through the junior ranks and, later on, spent a season playing for Vermont. As for Cassidy, she played for the Vaught Flames in 2016.

Career

Seguin officially began his professional career in NHL when he was drafted second overall by the Boston Bruins in the 2010 NHL Draft behind Taylor Hall.

Shortly after being drafted, he signed a 3-year, $3.75 million contract with the Bruins.

That same year, he helped Boston secure the Stanley Cup. He notched 4 goals and tallied 3 assists during the Eastern Conference and Stanley Cup Finals.

On September 11th, 2012, Seguin signed a 6-year contract extension worth $34.5 million.

After a dismal 2013 finals performance, Seguin was the center of a massive seven-player trade that sent him to the Dallas Stars.

Before the Bruins traded Seguin to Dallas, rumors had begun to circulate that the supposed hard-partying style of Seguin had displeased the Bruins, particularly when his on-ice performance began to suffer during the playoffs.

The team even went so far as to hire a guard to make sure he didn’t venture out to party away the Bruins’ Stanley Cup hopes.

After he earned named All-Star honors 4 times with Dallas, he signed an eight-year, $78.8 million contract extension on September 13th, 2018.

On March 12, 2020, after blocking the shot, Seguin suffered injury-two tears in his right vastus lateralis muscle.

That kept him out of action for quite some time but ultimately made his return on May 3, 2021. He scored a goal in the Stars’ 5-4 overtime loss against the Florida Panthers.

In addition to his huge salary, being one of the top players in the league comes with some lucrative endorsement opportunities that are hard to pass up.

Seguin has several sponsors like Dunkin’ Donuts, Adidas, Bauer Hockey, Michel Germain, and BioSteel Sports Supplements.
