Jamahal Hill, born May 19, 1991, is a professional mixed martial artist who competes in the light heavyweight division of the UFC.

After deciding not to pursue basketball at Davenport University, Hill shifted gears and began his professional mixed martial arts journey in 2017.

Hill had a strong start to his pro career, winning all five of his initial fights, with four of those victories happening under the KnockOut Promotions banner.

Jamahal entered the UFC for the first time on January 25, 2020, at UFC Fight Night 166 against Darko Stošić and won by unanimous decision.

Hill was set to fight Anthony Smith at UFC Fight Night 221 on March 11, 2023. However, he withdrew from the fight to compete for the vacant UFC Light Heavyweight Championship against Glover Teixeira.

On July 14, 2023, Hill said on YouTube that he injured his Achilles playing a fighter basketball during UFC International Fight Week, forcing him to give up the title.

Jamahal Hill Brother Assault Controversy

Hill got arrested at home on November 27 for a serious domestic violence charge, facing a misdemeanor allegation.

He was taken to Kent County Jail but was released a few hours later. There wasn’t much information aside from the assault claim by Hill’s brother.

Yet, a police report obtained by TMZ revealed details about the incident leading to the UFC fighter’s detention.

The report from the Kentwood Police Department outlines the argument that supposedly led to Hill assaulting his brother, James.

Jamahal and his sibling reportedly agreed that James and his wife would clean the UFC fighter’s house, which had deteriorated while empty, for $300. Their disagreement centered on house cleaning and other family issues.

According to James, Jamahal then removed his shirt and confronted him before hitting him with a closed fist.

James recounted that he tried to stand up as his wife stepped between them. Allegedly, the fighter reached around James’ wife and punched him in the face again.

The report mentioned that the initial punch thrown was a surprise attack by Jamahal.

The report stated that James had severe swelling on his face and had lost a tooth during his physical confrontation.

The situation escalated further when James questioned Jamahal about not texting his own daughter, who was at their house for Thanksgiving.

James also accused Jamahal of disrespecting women and neglecting his own daughter.

According to online records, the former UFC light heavyweight champion has a hearing on January 22, 2024.
