Jimmy Gerard Cordero is a Dominican professional baseball pitcher for the New York Yankees of MLB. He was born on October 19, 1991, in San Cristobal, Dominican Republic.

Growing up, Cordero attended high school at Liceo Politecnico Ana Lillians Miranda, Yaguate. He exhibited an early passion for the sport from a young age.

The Dominican made his MLB debut on August 2, 2018, when he was called up by the Washington Nationals.

After his debut with the Washington Nationals, he played in MLB for Toronto Blue Jays and Chicago White Sox before signing with the Yankees in 2021.

Known for his ability to generate ground ball outs, Cordero’s career has been marked by impressive performances and contributions to the teams he has played for.

Athletes often prefer to keep their personal lives private, and so does Jimmy. He is very enclosed about his personal life and has not talked about it in public.

It is the reason why most of us don’t know his wife’s name. Much of his wife’s personal information has remained hidden from view so far.

Although the player is known to have a wife and kids, specific details about their relationships and family dynamics are not widely publicized.

In light of the recent media coverage, it is evident that Jimmy Cordero and his wife don’t have a healthy relationship.

Jimmy Cordero Suspended For Violating MLB’s Domestic Violence Policy

New York Yankees reliever pitcher has been suspended after violating Major League Baseball’s domestic violence policy.

He is banned for the rest of the season as MLB announced Jimmy Cordero’s suspension.

With this, Cordero will miss at least the final 76 games of the Yankees’ regular season, plus the postseason games.

The Yankees reliever was handed one of the longest suspensions in major league history. Cordero had accepted the suspension as per the announcement of the commissioner’s office.

Details of what Cordero did has not been announced due to the league’s collective bargaining agreement.

But we can assume that evidence is pretty damning since it was enough to suspend him.

Reportedly, a few days ago, Cordero had informed Yankees Manager Aaron Boone that he was being investigated by MLB. Boone hopes that Cordero can have a redemption story following the suspension.

After MLB handed down the decision, the Yankees also released a statement in favor of MLB’s discipline and said ‘there is no justification for domestic violence.’

In the 2023 season, Cordero was 3-2 with a 3.86 ERA in one start and 30 relief appearances for the Yankees with a $720,000 salary.

However, players getting suspended for violating MLB’s Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, and Child Abuse Policy is not new for the team.

Cordero is the third member of the New York Yankees behind Domingo German and Aroldis Chapman to get suspended under this policy.

Similarly, 18 players have been suspended for domestic violence in the entire history of major league baseball.
