Avalanche’s Heartfelt Tribute for Josh Manson Mother

On November 7, 2023, a touching and heartfelt tribute unfolded within the Colorado Avalanche team.

Each player and their mother donned burgundy shirts that read, “Moms’ Trip – For Lana.”

This simple yet profound gesture was in memory of Lana Manson, the mother of Avalanche defenseman Josh Manson, who tragically passed away from melanoma on August 5.

Throughout the season, Josh Manson had carried the heavy burden of grief, and the shirts served as his teammates’ way of expressing their unwavering support and sympathy.

Jack Johnson, Manson’s defensive partner, noted that when the team learned of the upcoming “moms’ trip,” their collective thought was immediately with Josh.

The idea to create these meaningful shirts was initiated by Ryan Johansen, who approached Manson for his approval.

Lana Manson played a pivotal role in her son’s journey to the NHL. Hence, Josh emphasized the profound significance of this gesture, and he felt a deep appreciation for Ryan’s heartfelt acknowledgment of his situation.
