Tom Rogic wife, Sophia Spencer, has been together with the soccer player throughout his highs and lows. The couple is a parent to a daughter and is now expecting twins in April.
The former Celtic soccer player said he has decided to retire because of his wife, and how he wanted to be involved during their second pregnancy.
With Rogic not being much involved last time around, he wanted to be there for his wife during the birth of their twins. Many soccer fans are shocked by his decision as Rogic is only 30, but the midfielder truly believes he has made the right decision.
The last team Roger played for was West Bromwich Albion, for whom he made 20 appearances. He stayed with Celtic for nine years and is their certified legend.
Tom Rogic Wife, Sophia Spencer, And Kids
Tom Rogic’s wife, Sophia Spencer, has only made a handful of public appearances. The couple tied the knot in 2019 and have been extremely private about their relationship.
The couple chose to exchange their vows in their homeland, Australia, with the venue being Emirates One & Only Wolgan Valley. An Instagram handle had shared a couple of pictures of the couple’s wedding in 2019.
The soccer couple had their first child, a baby girl, in 2021. Sophia and their daughter were seen at the Celtics ground in 2022, celebrating the club’s domestic treble.
Sophia has an Instagram handle but has kept it in private mode. The only time the soccer player ever shared a post regarding his personal life came earlier today on his retirement.
In his Instagram post about his retirement, Tom made it clear that he wanted to be there for his wife during her ongoing pregnancy.
Sophia had previously suffered from fertility issues and after many failed rounds of IVF treatment was able to carry their baby girl. Now, the couple is expecting twins in 2024.
And knowing how big of a problem it was last time around, Rogic didn’t want to take any chances when it came to his family. The family has now shifted to Australia where they are likely to raise their kids.
Tom Rogic: A Celtic Legend
Since announcing his retirement earlier today, Tom Rogic has received many supportive messages from fans and his peers. But one team that dearly loves him and misses him is the Celtic.
The Australian soccer player began his journey with Belconnen United in 2011 and later joined Central Coast Mariners. In 2013, he joined the Celtic, and the rest was history.
During his nine-year-long stay with Celtic, Rogic won 16 major trophies, including six League titles, five Scottish Cups, and five League Cups.
Nicknamed the “Wizard of OZ” Tom and his winning goal in the 2017 Scottish Cup final remains one of the favorite plays made by the player among the fans.
After Tom announced his retirement, Celtic also made a statement. The club wrote, “Everyone at Celtic Football Club would like to thank Tom Rogic for his incredible service over nine fantastic years, and we wish both him and his family all the best for the future.”
