Will Martin Odegaard Stay at Arsenal?

Arsenal’s midfielder and Real Madrid loanee Martin Odegaard might finally be settling at a club. 

Norwegian wonder kid and Arsenal superstar Martin Odegaard had signed for Arsenal on the January transfer window. The Norwegian kid dubbed ‘The Next Big Thing’ had signed from Real Madrid to Arsenal on a season-long deal.

The midfielder from Norway, who is only 22 years old, has hinted that he wants to stay long-term at one single club. Furthermore, Odegaard has revealed that he will be making a big decision about his transfer when the 2020/21 season finally ends.

There are a lot of speculations that Odegaard will permanently sign for Arsenal. 

However, Odegaard is open to other options besides staying at Arsenal. Finally, after years of loan spell, we might be seeing the wonder kid staying at one single club. 

Odegaard has also been announced as the new Norwegian football team’s captain. 

Will Martin Odegaard stay, or will he go? 

Just recently, VG, a Norwegian newspaper, interviewed Martin Odegaard. He went into details about being awarded the captaincy, plans, and Arsenal time. 

When asked about his plans after the end of his loan spell, Odegaard responded that he is looking for stability in his professional life. 

Martin Odegaard had signed for Real Madrid on 21 January 2015 at the young age of 15. Moreover, he was dubbed as the heir to Cristiano Ronaldo’s throne at the club.

However, the player was placed in Real Madrid’s B team and was sent on loan to three different clubs to nurture his development. 

Indeed, a player of his caliber wouldn’t want to go on multiple loan spells. 

Pleased at Arsenal?

So, it looks like Odegaard has finally found his foot at Arsenal football club. Furthermore, at Arsenal, he has been given many starting opportunities and has gathered his teammates’ respect.  

The Norwegian midfielder revealed to VG Sports that he is pleased to play for Arsenal Football Club. 

“I’m very happy to be at Arsenal. I like it here.”

Alongside being happy, Odegaard insists he will assess his future at the end of the season. As his main focus is finishing the season strong, Odegaard is open to staying at Arsenal. 

I think it will be important to find stability in the long run, but right now I am just focusing on ending the season here.

Stability has been a big issue for the versatile midfielder. After enduring loan spells at Real Sociedad, Heerenveen, and Vitesse, Odegaard has yet to impact one club significantly.

As several clubs have a huge interest in him, Arsenal might be the perfect place for him. 

The current Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane is packed with midfield options, with Toni Kroos, Casemiro, Luka Modric, and Isco. Moreover, many rumors are suggesting that Zidane doesn’t prefer Odegaard in his team. 

The Dilemma Surrounding His Future

Real Madrid announced Odegaard’s signing with huge glamor all around the world. However, despite all the frenzy, he hasn’t lived up to his expectation at Real Madrid. 

So, the end of Odegaard’s loan spell at Arsenal will be a crucial period that will define the Norwegian’s future. 

However, what matters is the present. Odegaard is highly pleased with Arsenal and looks forward to finishing the season in a strong position. 

“I’m very happy to be at Arsenal. I like it here. Beyond that, I have no more comments other than that I focus on ending the season, then we will see what happens after that.”

Coach Mikel Arteta hails Odegaard as phenomenal. Likewise, he has settled well with his teammates and staff. 

The presence of former teammate Dani Ceballos certainly has helped improved his stay at the club. 

Wherever Odegaard will join, he will undoubtedly become a top player for the team.

Odegaard’s Time at Arsenal Only Getting Better

The Norwegian midfielder has recently scored a thunderbolt goal against Olympiacos in the Europa League Round of 16. 

After making multiple appearances for Arsenal, it looks like Odegaard has finally adapted to the team.

During Arsenal’s first leg match against Olympiacos, Odegaard made a significant mark on the game. His world-class left-footed goal that baffled the goalkeeper came in the 34th minute.

Furthermore, this goal will undoubtedly give Odegaard’s confidence a much-needed boost.

As Arsenal will play Tottenham Hotspur in the North London Derby on the 14th of March, Odegaard will undoubtedly expect to impact the game. 

The North London Derby is one of the biggest derbies globally, and the Norwegian midfielder will undoubtedly want to be a part of it. 

Martin Odegaard named Norway’s New Captain.

Just recently, Odegaard was announced as the new Norweigian team captain. 

Alongside scoring his first goal for Arsenal, Odegaard has another reason to be delighted. 

Odegaard revealed in the same interview that he was extremely excited about being awarded the captaincy. Likewise, this will make Odegaard the captain of the national team at the young age of 22.
