Wilson Moore Death & Obituary: Former Baseball Player Passes Away

The graduate of Heritage High School, Wilson Moore death happened early Saturday morning. The former catcher was a native of Rolesville, North Carolina. 

Moore played baseball for Heritage Middle and Heritage High. He played multiple positions, including catcher and pitcher.

Wilson graduated from Heritage High last year and hadn’t announced his commitment to another baseball team. The Heritage High Husky Baseball team shared the news of his passing on their Facebook page on Sunday night. 

A GoFundMe page has been set up for Wilson, and his family is yet to speak about his demise. His GoFundMe page alludes to precautions about using recreational substances.

Wilson Moore death has come as a shock to those close to the baseball player. A student at Heritage High, Moore, passed away early Saturday morning in his sleep. 

Wilson, 18, played mostly as a catcher and was also a right-handed pitcher. 

A GoFundMe has been organized to help the Moore family with Wilson’s funeral and memorial expenses. The goal of $25,000 has so far reached $15,000. 

The GoFundMe page has stated that the cause of death was still being investigated, but an accidental substance poison has been suspected.

The GoFundMe page also asks those reading it to educate their children and friends about the use of any recreational substances and the life-and-death consequences. 

A Facebook user whose daughter happened to be a friend of Wilson also wrote a similar post. The user, Nicole Bennet Weeks, urged the readers to talk to their kids about the use of recreational drugs. 

Heritage High’s baseball team shared a post as a tribute to Wilson.

The statement read, “Our hearts are heavy as we reflect on the passing of Wilson Moore, a beloved member of our Husky Baseball family. He was more than just a player; he was a friend, a bright light, and a great teammate with an infectious personality.

His legacy will forever be remembered in our program and on the field. Rest easy, Wilson. Your Husky family loves you and will deeply miss you.”

The Heritage High Baseball Player’s Family 

Wilson’s family hasn’t shared any statement regarding his demise. He was the only child of Betsy Ballard Moore. 

His mom, Betsy, has shared a few pictures of her with her son on her Facebook handle. The person who shared his GoFundMe page was Kristina Currie Liljestrand. 

Kristina’s son, Talan, and Wilson happened to be good friends. Alongside sharing the GoFundMe page on her Facebook handle, she also shared it on her Instagram page.

She captioned the post, “Sadly, we lost a beautiful soul this weekend. One of Talan’s best friends, Wilson Moore, lost his life. If you would like to donate or leave any kind words for Wilson’s family, it would be greatly appreciated.”

Wilson had graduated from Heritage High School last year and was part of the Class of 2023. It isn’t certain whether he was looking forward to carrying on his baseball career or diving into a new field. 

On Facebook, Wilson shared that he was working as a Rodman at GSC Surveying.
