The WNBA star, Monique Billings, faced a tragedy when she lost her beloved father and first coach, Charles F. ‘Chuck’ Billings, in 2021.
In Todd Durkin’s podcast, Monique Billings revealed that her father, Chuck Billings, had ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), a rare, terminal neurodegenerative disorder that results in the progressive loss of both upper and lower motor neurons that normally control voluntary muscle contraction.

Monique Billings’ father, Chuck Billings, passed away just shy of his 56th birthday.
Similarly, in the Podcast video of January 2023, Monique Billings also revealed that it was her late father’s heavenly birthday and that she listened to his playlist, paying respect to her late father.
Monique also stated that she had a happy childhood and remembers growing up to her parents’ music.
Her late father, Chuck, gave her a quote that reads, “You want to be as good as yesterday…but not as good as tomorrow,” which changed Monique’s life in a positive manner.
Likewise, her father was the one who inspired Monique to write her book “Finding Balance: A Playbook for Wellness.“
"I wrote this book and dedicated it to him. He passed last year from ALS so this book is dedicated to him because he is everything that I am is because of him," said Monique, recalling the memories of her father.
