Rommel Dizon, a respected and well-loved technology support specialist at Hillsboro School District, tragically died in a car accident on October 14, 2025.

The devastating news deeply shook the Glencoe High School community, where he had worked for six years.

Known for his quiet dedication and behind-the-scenes contributions, Dizon played a key role in keeping the school’s technology running smoothly.

Principal Claudia Ruf shared the heartbreaking news with students, families, and staff through an official letter.

With Mr. Dizon’s death, we have lost a member of our Glencoe family,” she wrote, expressing the deep impact of the tragedy on both staff and students.

She also emphasized the importance of collective grieving and emotional support, noting that the district’s Flight Team would be on-site to provide counseling services.

For many students, Dizon’s presence may not have been in the spotlight, but his work was essential.

As an educational technology coordinator, he ensured classrooms remained connected and functional, supporting teachers and students alike.

His commitment to problem-solving and his calm demeanor earned him quiet respect among colleagues.

Outside of his role at the school district, Dizon had an extensive background in technology and customer service.

He previously owned and managed PDX Cables, an online business that provided various types of cables and tech accessories.

His professional journey also included work as a shipping manager and even as a component design engineer at Intel Corporation, showcasing his lifelong dedication to technology.

The news of his sudden passing also resonated with his former classmates and friends.

Matt Johnston, a high school friend, shared an emotional tribute, remembering Dizon not only as a brilliant tech mind but also as “a good man” and “an outstanding chess player.

He described how Dizon was his best friend during high school and even a groomsman at his wedding.

As the Glencoe High School community processes this loss, counselors and mental health professionals are working to support students and staff.

The district encouraged families to keep their children in school, where they can grieve and heal together.

Rommel Dizon’s legacy extends beyond his technical expertise. He was a trusted colleague, a loyal friend, and a valued member of his community.

His sudden passing serves as a reminder of the lasting impact one person can have — often in ways not seen until they are gone.

His family, friends, and colleagues will carry his memory forward with respect and love.
