The Big Ten Championships gold medalist, Sammy Sasso, and his longtime girlfriend, Adriana, got engaged in May 2025.
They shared a post on Instagram featuring several beautiful photos, including the moment Sammy proposed to Adriana by the sea. The post was captioned, “Home is wherever I’m with you 🤍.“
Similarly, Adriana Kranyecz shared the moments from her engagement on Facebook and wrote:
“I’ve dreamed of becoming Mrs. Sasso for as long as I can remember, and now we’re one step closer. Sammy, you are my best friend, my safe place, and the love of my life. I’m so thankful I get to spend forever with you. We’re engaged!”

Both natives of Pennsylvania, Sammy Sasso and his longtime girlfriend, now fiancée, Adriana, are high school sweethearts who attended Nazareth Area High School.
While the exact date their relationship began is unknown, they appear to have been dating since 2016 and have been together for nearly a decade.
Sammy Sasso often expresses his love and respect for his longtime partner, regarding her as his constant supporter and best friend.
Adriana has always been by Sammy’s side through all of his good and bad times, including his life-threatening incident in 2023.
Back on August 18, 2023, Sasso was shot in the stomach during a carjacking in an alley near Ohio State University’s campus.
Furthermore, he underwent two surgeries—one to reconstruct his colon and another to remove the bullet, which had lodged near his spine and caused severe nerve damage.
Following the surgeries, Sasso spent three days in intensive care before being transferred to an acute care unit. After spending 41 days in the hospital, he was finally released. Throughout this difficult time, his girlfriend, Adriana, and his family offered constant support and played a key role in his recovery.
In September 2023, Sammy Sasso shared a beautiful post on Instagram appreciating his fiancée and expressing his love for her.
The post reads:
“My babygirl . It’s been a tough past 2 weeks after catching a bullet to the gut, and i ain’t no quitter but i wouldn’t of made it this far without her. During this time she’s been there for me every second of the day, and done everything in her power to help keep me going. When you are on that table dying, not knowing whether you are going to make it, your “why” is what you think about , why do you want to live. this girl was my why on that operating table. the only thing that kept me alive was the thought of being with her and raising a family together. Adriana Marie Kranyecz i love your ass more then you will ever know and i can’t thank you enough for everything you’ve done for me in this lifetime . godbless .
