After his family moved to Ventura County in 1967, he made history at Camarillo High School as the county’s first four-time wrestling league champion.

His prowess on the mat continued at UC Santa Barbara, where he earned titles as conference champion, most valuable player, and NCAA qualifier.

Over 36 years, including 24 at his alma mater, Camarillo High, he led his teams to 10 league championships and coached nine individual section champions, 12 state qualifiers, five state placers, three national high school qualifiers, and one high school All-American.

He served as head coach of the Olympic Festival and assistant training site director for the 1984 Olympic Games.

Wilson’s accolades include being named the Los Angeles Daily News Coach of the Year in 1994, Educator of the Year by the Camarillo Chamber of Commerce in 2013, and Coastal Conference Coach of the Year in 2015.

He was inducted into the Ventura County Sports Hall of Fame in 2016 and the California Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2022.

Beyond wrestling, Wilson coached youth soccer, track, and softball in Camarillo for 22 years and was recognized for his contributions to education with awards like the Oxnard Union High School Lifetime Achievement Award in 2010.

When the Ventura County Sheriff’s Major Crimes Sexual Assault Unit launched an investigation, it was prompted by the Santa Barbara Police Department.

Authorities allege that Wilson initiated a sexual relationship with an underage female student while employed at Camarillo High, with assaults occurring both on and off campus over several years.

The alleged crimes, which took place over a decade ago, have led to charges including lewd acts upon a child and unlawful sexual intercourse.

On May 13, a multi-agency operation involving the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, Timnath Police Department, and Larimer County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team executed a search warrant at Wilson’s Timnath home, resulting in his arrest.

As of May 14, Wilson had not been booked into jail, and the investigation remains ongoing, with authorities suspecting there may be additional victims.

While Ronald Wilson’s career and the allegations against him dominate headlines, less is known about Kathie, his wife of over four decades.

Married for 43 years, Kathie and their family have been a continuous presence in Wilson’s life, though she has remained out of the public eye.

Her decision to stand by her husband during this crisis highlights the strength of their partnership, which has been forged through decades of shared experiences.

In the face of serious allegations, Kathie’s loyalty underscores a deeply personal commitment, though the details of her perspective remain private.

The News About Wilson’s Arrest Has Shocked And Saddened Those Who Knew Him

Former students and community members are shocked, sharing mixed feelings about a man who was both admired and unsettling.

Brie Miller, a childhood friend of Wilson’s daughter, shared fond memories of time spent at the Wilson home.

“I was good friends with his daughter growing up and my family lived around the corner from theirs. I spent many days and nights at their house. He was the nicest man and never once did I get a weird vibe from him. I am SHOOK.”

Lynsey Marie, another former student, echoed this sentiment, recalling Wilson’s supportiveness.

“This makes me so sad to hear. He was a great teacher. I loved his class. He was so supportive — came out to sporting events. I’d see him at church. I never would have guessed he’d be in legal trouble! Especially of this magnitude.Literally so sad one of the few names of high school teachers I even remember! Praying for everyone involved in this horrible horrible situation.”

Yet, not all reactions were positive. One commenter hinted at unease, stating,

“Ehh he kinda gave me creepy vibes while I went to cam…. Luckily I didn’t have him as a teacher. It’s a shame how many sick people are out there, especially the ones running our country!!!”

The Oxnard Union High School District, where Wilson worked for 13 years before joining Camarillo High, issued a statement emphasizing student safety as its top priority.

The district said:

“The Oxnard Union High School District is aware of the recent arrest of a former employee in connection with allegations of sexual misconduct involving a student over a decade ago. We are devastated by these allegations and condemn this behavior.”

As the legal process continues, the case raises key questions about accountability, trust, and student protection.

Authorities are urging potential additional victims to come forward, indicating the investigation may expand.

Wilson is currently at the center of a multi-state effort to find the truth, while his wife, Kathie, supports him, showing their strong bond.
