WWE star Rhea Ripley considers herself lucky that her husband, Buddy Matthews, is involved in the same business. They tied the knot in June 2024 after having met during their time with WWE.
Ripley signed with WWE in 2017 and began her journey with their inaugural show, Mae Young Classic. Soon, she joined NXT UK and started gaining traction in the wrestling circuit.
Ripley has become a household name among wrestling fans since getting promoted to the main roster on Raw in 2022.
At WrestleMania 39 2023, Ripley captured the SmackDown Women’s Championship for the first time. She defended her title for 380 days, tying the record set by Bayley.
Rhea lost the title to Becky Lynch in April 2024, who was then dethroned by Liv Morgan.
The drama between Morgan and Ripley had been brewing since Ripley suffered the shoulder injury at WrestleMania 40 as Morgan attacked her.
This incident forced Ripley to vacate her title, and her wrestling partner, “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio, went on to side with Liv Morgan.
On Monday night, on the debut episode of WWE Raw on Netflix, Ripley stepped out with a vengeance to defeat Morgan and recapture her title.
And she did so with style. Morgan almost defeated Ripley with a frog splash, but Ripley kicked out before the three-count.
After that, she hit Morgan with back-to-back Riptides and secured the win via pinfall.
Later, the WWE legend The Undertaker rode into the arena on his motorcycle and joined Ripley in a dramatic celebration.

Matthew Adams, aka Buddy Matthews, relocated to the USA and signed with WWE in 2013. He started with NXT and moved to the main roster five years later, appearing on 205 Live.
Matthews first appeared in SmackDown and Raw in 2019 but couldn’t last long with the franchise.
He left WWE in 2021 and joined New Japan Pro-Wrestling and Major League Wrestling. And in 2022, Matthews signed with All-Elite Wrestling.
The pair first met while working with WWE, as their careers overlapped during their time on the main roster in 2021.
Before finding love with Ripley, Matthews was engaged to WWE Superstar Alexa Bliss. However, the former couple called off their engagement in 2018 but remain on good terms even after separation.
Following their separation, Rhea and Matthew confirmed their relationship in April 2022 by posting videos of them working out together on Instagram.
A fan on X asked Ripley, “Rhea, what does he have that I don’t?” and she replied, “Me.”

The wrestling couple announced they had become partners for life on Instagram on June 27, 2024.
Ripley and Matthews shared a joint post, with the former captioning it, “Til death. 23.06.2024.“
The couple had announced their engagement on Instagram, which surprised many. Many wrestling fans even thought she was dating her wrestling partner, Mysterio.
Rhea shared a photo of her kissing Matthew’s cheek on a beach while wearing her engagement ring.
The women’s world champion has previously talked about Matthew’s support for her career.
In her interview with TV Insider, Rhea was asked how she manages her married life with what’s happening in the storyline. The WWE star said,
There is a level of respect. Luckily for me, [my husband] Buddy [Matthews] is in the business, so he knows what goes on and is needed from us. He understands my schedule, storylines, everything. He gets it. He was in the same sort of thing with Aalyah Mysterio. I feel like us keeping communication of what is going on is the level of respect that is needed between an actual relationship and an onscreen relationship.
