Wyoming Cowboy Football is mourning the tragic loss of former quarterback Tom Corontzos.

Tom Corontzos was a college football quarterback for the University of Wyoming during the late 1980s and early 1990s, playing in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC).

Over his four-year career (1988-1991), he developed from a limited role player into a productive starter and became one of Wyoming’s notable passers of that era.

In his early season (1988), Corontzos saw minimal action, completing 11 of 23 passes for 109 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions.

He took a major step forward in 1989, starting to establish himself as the team’s primary quarterback. That year, he threw for 2,005 yards and 14 touchdowns, though he also had 12 interceptions as he adjusted to a full-time role.

His production remained steady in 1990, finishing with 2,730 passing yards and 14 touchdowns.

While interceptions rose to 17, he showed durability and volume as a high-attempt quarterback.

His strongest season came in 1991, when he threw for 2,868 yards and 9 touchdowns with only 8 interceptions.

For his career, Corontzos totaled 7,712 passing yards, 47 touchdown passes, and 37 interceptions with a 54.4% completion rate.
