Clay Bellinger, who showcased his exceptional baseball skills playing for the New York Yankees, winning two World Series championships, credits his parents for guiding him in his sports journey.

The former MLB star Clay was born Clayton Daniel Bellinger on November 18, 1968, in Oneonta, New York, to parents Daniel L. Bellinger and Penny Meleniclis Bellinger.

Moreover, Clay Bellinger’s parents were both avid baseball lovers, especially his late father Daniel, who guided him in his sports journey from a very young age.

While Clay’s father, Daniel, didn’t pursue his career in sports, he played baseball in high school and college.

Although Clay Bellinger’s mother, Penelope ‘Penny’, didn’t play sports herself, she played a major role in his sports career by being his constant supporter through thick and thin.

Clay Bellinger often expresses his love and respect for his parents, who instilled in him the dedication and passion for sports, which he could pass on to his three children, Cole, Cody, and Ashli.

Following in Clay Bellinger’s footsteps in sports, both of his sons, Cody and Cole Bellinger, pursued their careers as exceptional baseball players.

Like Clay Bellinger, his son Cody Bellinger plays baseball for the New York Yankees as an outfielder and first baseman.

Similarly, his younger son, Cole Bellinger, is a former standout pitcher for Hamilton High School and was selected by the San Diego Padres of MLB in 2017; however, after playing for two seasons, Cole retired from baseball in 2021.

Clay Bellinger’s Father, Daniel Bellinger, Passed Away In 2020

Former MLB star Clay Bellinger and his sister Victoria faced a tragic loss when their beloved father and guide, Daniel L. Bellinger, passed away on May 12, 2020, at the age of 77.

Daniel Bellinger peacefully took his last breath at The Villages Regional Hospital in The Villages, Florida, with his beloved son, Clay, and daughter, Victoria, by his side.

Moreover, the late Daniel Bellinger was born on April 17, 1943, in Stamford, New York, to late parents Hubert and Marylou Bellinger of Worcester.

He graduated from Worcester Central School and later earned his bachelor’s in major accounting from State University of New York, Morrisville.

Similarly, the late Daniel was a longtime employee of Televi and Parlato and later continued his career as a comptroller of Laurents Central School.

Daniel was also a member of the National Guard and the Elks Club in Oneonta. He loved baseball and enjoyed watching his two favorite teams, the Tampa Rays and the LA Dodgers.

Although Clay Bellinger’s parents, Daniel and Penny, separated, they mutually took care of and supported both of their children.

Talking about Clay’s mother, Penny Meleniclis Bellinger, a graduate of Andrew Jackson High School, prefers to maintain a low profile. However, she often shares pictures of her son and grandsons on social media, expressing her love for them.
