Young Biking Enthusiast Eli Bender, 6, Passes Away In Accident In Jersey City, Leaving His Parents Heartbroken!

Eli Bender, a 6-year-old boy, tragically lost his life after being struck by a UPS truck while riding his bike with his father in Jersey City on June 13, 2025.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Jersey Avenue and Sixth Street at approximately 3:53 p.m. Despite emergency efforts, Eli was pronounced dead at 4:03 p.m.

The driver remained at the scene and was cooperating with authorities, but no charges have been filed as of now.

While the Jersey City Police Department is still investigating the incident, authorities have not yet released further details regarding any charges or findings.

Eli Bender’s Family And Community Are Grieving His Tragic Loss!

Eli Bender, a student at Hamilton Park Montessori School in Jersey City, was a young biker who loved riding his bike.

He was cycling with his father when the tragic incident took place. He lost his life while doing something he loved.

Bender’s family and community are devastated by his untimely passing.

His teachers and classmates are deeply mourning his loss, remembering him as a bright and creative child who loved cats, cinnamon sticks, and expressing himself through art.

Lena Shamoun, Eli’s former teacher, shared a heartfelt letter reflecting on Eli’s humor, artistic talents, and the joy he brought to those around him.

The school community has come together to honor his memory, with educators and friends recalling how special he was and how much he was loved.

At a vigil held in Hamilton Park, Rabbi Leana Moritt spoke about the unimaginable pain they are experiencing, saying,

There are no words, no good words, no words, since hearing the unspeakable news from our friends, one phrase goes out of order: it’s out of order.

Additionally, a close family friend, Meghan Dolby Rossik, recalled joyful moments with Eli and expressed:

Our hearts are broken, but our bonds are strong.

Eli Bender’s parents are grieving an unimaginable and heartbreaking loss. Losing a young child like Eli, just 6 years old, is devastating.

While they haven’t made many public statements, it’s clear from the vigil and the words shared by Rabbi Leana Moritt that their pain is enormous.
