A track and field athlete from Wallingford, Conn., Gabe Toppin passed away, leaving his parents and community in deep mourning.

Gabe was part of the track team at Lyman Hall High School in Connecticut, where he led his team to a state championship.

After high school, he attended Southern Connecticut State University, where he competed as a freshman during the 2024–2025 season.

Having just begun his sophomore year with SCSU, he passed away unexpectedly, leaving everyone in profound grief.

Wallingford, Connecticut, Community Mourns the Loss of Young Athlete Gabe Toppin!

While not much about his death is publicly disclosed, his death was confirmed by his friend and teammates via instagram stories.

Gabe was the loving son of Patricia and Gabriel Toppin.

Not only was Gabe a skilled athlete, but he was also a true friend, a helpful teammate, and a mentor to many.

Following his passing, many shared their condolences and sympathy for Gabe, with one of his friends writing in the comments:

Had so much left in you Gabe , the world will miss our teammate, coach, and friend. 

In the same post, another one wrote;

As of now, neither the family nor the university has offered a statement about Gabe’s death, but his friends seem to be mourning during this difficult time.

While the Toppin family is taking some time to process their loss, they may soon announce funeral and visitation details.

With everyone going through this challenging time, we would like to express our heartfelt condolences to the Toppin family and to everyone who knew Gabe.
