10U Gladiators Cheated Out of a Fair Win in Georgetown as GYBA Board Ignores Clear Rule Violations

Liuzzi Questions the GYBA Board!

Georgetown youth baseball parent Jessi Liuzzi recently shared a Facebook post expressing outrage over the rule violations during a recent 10U end-of-season tournament.

Liuzzi is the coach’s wife and a former fundraising director for GYBA, who has spoken out on behalf of the 10U Gladiators.

As per Liuzzi, her childrens were unfairly denied a win in the game.

While it’s not just the loss Liuzzi is concerned about, the violation of rules and regulations is what she speaks of in her post.

Georgetown Youth Baseball Parent Claims 10U Gladiators Were Cheated Out of a Fair Win as GYBA Board Ignores Clear Rule Violations

According to Liuzzi, the controversy began in the second game of the tournament, where the Gladiators faced the 10U Hitmen.

Before the game, the coach informed the league president that the opposing pitcher was a select team player, ineligible under GYBA rules.

However, board members, some of whom had children on the same select team, allegedly ignored the violations.

As per Liuzzi, evidence showed the player had quit GYBA months earlier, yet he pitched for the Hitmen, giving them a competitive advantage.

Despite proof from rosters and video footage, board members refused to remove the ineligible player, leaving the Gladiators to compete under unfair circumstances.

I never go looking for a fight, but I am also not one to back down when I feel there is blatant injustice happening…

Liuzzi also reported that when she confronted the opposing player’s father about lying about his team’s participation, he laughed.

Not just the father, but some board members reportedly celebrated the dishonesty.

She emphasized that the Gladiators’ loss was not due to skill but to the league’s failure to enforce its rules.

Following her post, many have expressed their support for her speaking out about what has been happening in the sports community.

One of the users on her Facebook post shared their support in the comments, saying;

As a parent and a coach for many years I can tell you this upset me so much to watch! To watch grown adults who are supposed to uphold the rules and do right by our kids stand by, watch, and approve of this behavior. To watch grown adults intentionally cheat and hurt children who worked hard and DIDNT CHEAT to win. Shame on the Georgetown Youth Baseball Association board and the choices they made today. Showing our kids that they can cheat to win is NOT an organization I want to be a part of.

While the relevant authority has taken no action, Liuzzi is calling for corrective measures to ensure fairness and integrity in youth sports.
