Melvin E. Edwards took to his Facebook to share screenshots from a Twitter account belonging to a man who calls himself Coach Jason Kent, to reveal that he is racist.

The Twitter account of the coach has a profile picture with a guy in a Yankees uniform holding a bat and a ball.

His bio says he is the coach of the 12U Houston Yankees, the 15U Austin Hawks, and the 14U Giddings Gamblers. Likewise, the bio also includes some explicit words.

He shared two screenshots, including the coach’s Twitter profile and a screenshot of a racist post.

What really got folks upset was one particular post that simply read “Cry harder blackie,” posted back on November 27th. It had gathered hundreds of views by the time the screenshots spread.

Edwards called the guy not just a jerk but also a racist on top of everything else, and he hoped that the baseball teams would see this and do something about it.

In the comments under that Facebook post, several expressed their disbelief, saying things like how could someone like this coach children, or calling himself an alpha male often means the opposite.

Many commenters expressed shock that a person coaching kids would put out language like that. One comment read:

He coaches CHILDREN???? I hope they see it too.

While several urged others to report him to whatever associations run those youth leagues, so he wouldn’t be around young players anymore.

Need to report him to the association he coaches for. He doesn’t need to be working with children

One person even tagged the New York Yankees, asking how they felt about their logo on someone acting this way. The comment reads:

New York Yankees how do you feel about your logo being worn by this racist. Then again, you are probably okay with it given your moment of silence tribute to Charle Kirk.

Bob Lamond Jr.

Overall, the reactions showed a lot of anger and disappointment, especially since this involves someone working with minors in sports, where you expect better examples set for the kids.

Whether the teams or leagues have seen this yet remains unclear, but the hope from those commenting is that they will and take it seriously.
