A fatal motorcycle crash in Clermont County claimed the life of 20-year-old Brady Alexander Mentz, a recent Elder High School graduate and talented athlete, on November 24, 2025.
The accident occurred around 12:10 p.m. on State Route 125 near Crane Schoolhouse Road, just outside Bethel, Ohio.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Brady was riding his motorcycle westbound on SR-125 when a van attempting to turn left onto Macedonia Road pulled into his path.
The impact sent both vehicles off the roadway.
Despite an immediate response from emergency crews, Brady was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the van sustained only minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
Neighbors who witnessed the aftermath described a heartbreaking scene.
Kris Fogwell, a 30-year resident of Macedonia Road, arrived at the crash scene shortly after it happened. “I saw a motorcyclist laying on the ground,” he told reporters, visibly shaken.
Fogwell and others who live near the intersection say accidents there are all too common and are now renewing calls for safety improvements, whether a dedicated turn lane, additional signage, or a traffic light, to prevent future tragedies.
The investigation remains ongoing.
Brady Mentz was far more than a name in a police report. The 2024 Elder High School graduate was a three-sport varsity athlete who left a lasting mark on the Cincinnati Catholic school’s football, wrestling, and baseball programs.
Known for his work ethic, infectious smile, and deep faith, Brady earned multiple scholarships, including a wrestling scholarship, and was honored with the Parochial Promise and Saints Awards.
After graduation, he enrolled at Thomas More University, where he planned to continue both his education and athletic career.
His unexpected death caused sadness and memorials on social media in the Elder and Greater Cincinnati communities.
His aunt, Brooke Vogelgesang, shared a deeply moving tribute:
“I will never find the words for what my family and I are going through right now. The only words we can lean on are God’s words… I know our sweet Brady is with the comfort of God. Selfishly I believe he left this temporary world too soon… Brady had a great faith in the Lord. He was kind, outgoing, trustworthy, adventurous, and most importantly he loved Jesus… Please pray for my family. That one day we will feel peace in knowing Brady is looking over us… Hold your loved ones a little tighter for my family as we navigate through this heavy time.”

Another family member, Jamie Morris, wrote,
“A car pulled out in front of him and did not see him and our family is devastated… I just hope that everybody tries to appreciate their loved ones more every day and have a good Thanksgiving.”

Friends from his earlier school years also chimed in with memories. Ian Madden recalled,
“Brady Mentz one of my first few friends in middle school that I made… He was such a good person to me and everyone else and we shared many laughs. Rest in peace bud.”

After the Brady Mentz accident, many people, including teammates, coaches, and strangers, have come together to support the Mentz family through prayers and meals.
Many have noted that Brady lived his faith openly and encouraged others to seek God, something his family says he would want people to remember most.
As the holiday season approaches, the loss feels especially heavy.
Yet through their pain, the Mentz family and friends continue to point others toward the hope Brady carried so confidently.
Rest in peace, Brady. You were taken far too soon, but your impact will be felt for years to come.
