Alabama State University graduate, Antanvious, was recently held at the Muscogee County Jail following his arrest on charges of murder.

Antanvious Tyrese Butler is a 26-year-old known for his talent in football and wrestling.

After graduating, Antanvious Butler became involved in the fitness world, continuing his passion for physical training and athletic performance.

Recently, he has been arrested by the Columbus Police Department’s Special Operations and Crimes units and charged in connection with a deadly home invasion.

Jail records confirm that Butler was booked into Muscogee County Jail at 8:41 P.M. on charges including murder, home invasion, and possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of a felony.

His first court appearance is scheduled for October 10, 2025, at 1:30 P.M. in Recorder’s Court.

People Are Publicly Defending Antanvious Butler Following His Arrest!

The arrest came nearly 24 hours after 65-year-old Norman Lane was found shot to death inside his home on Brookstone Boulevard.

Police believe the suspect forced entry into Lane’s residence during a home invasion.

This led to a fatal shooting with shotgun-type wounds, and Lane’s handgun was found next to him.

Butler was taken into custody by the Columbus Police Department’s Special Operations and Violent Crimes units.

The investigation is still ongoing, and authorities are asking anyone with information to contact Cpl. Justin Doll.

Following the news, community members have shared strong reactions.

Isaiah Bingham posted online, defending Butler and saying,

Free ant he was a positive dude in the community hell of a wrestler and hell of a football player!! Yall mfs talkin like yall went to school with him!! Free Antanavious Butler bros innocent!

He also criticized others for judging Butler without knowing him personally, insisting that Butler is innocent.

As the investigation into the Brookstone home invasion continues, authorities are working to uncover more details about the incident.
