American professional baseball player Terry Francona is reported to be getting back for the major league dugout in 2025 after a year-long break from the game.
In the summer of 2023, Terry, who had been a manager for Cleveland Guardians for the last 11 years, announced his retirement by the end of the season, considering his health condition.
During his tenure at Cleveland, he underwent several surgeries that obliged him to take a step back.

Meanwhile, he had said,
I need to go home and get healthy. Managing is hard, and the older you get the harder it gets. To do the job the way I think you need to do it, I wasn’t really able to do that and that bothered me. I knew it was the right decision because I felt better after I made it. I’m ready to rest a little. Let someone else be in charge.
Before managing Cleveland, Terry managed Philadelphia for four years. Overall, he held a managerial position for almost two and a half decades, which was pretty fruitful for his career advancement and, most importantly, for the teams he was associated with.
But, while announcing his retirement after serving Cleveland, an Aberdeen native stated,
I came here for the right reasons and I’m leaving for the right reasons, and in between it’s been really good.

The news surfaced on October 4, 2024, after MLB’s reporter, Mark Feinsand, tweeted, saying,
BREAKING NEWS: The Reds are hiring Terry Francona to be their new manager, per source. Announcement expected as soon as Friday.

Soon after, the news took over the Internet, especially on Twitter. Many share the news, even claiming that the Reds have already hired Terry Francona. The Twitter page of Reds Daily recently shared Terry’s picture with the layout text ‘Hired,’ but it’s untrue.

If the news of the hiring of Terry Francona as a manager for Cincinnati Reds comes true, then it won’t be his first time associating with the team.
Times Union reports that he signed a one-year contract with the Reds in 1987 and played as an outfielder in 102 games. His records were .227, with three homers and 12 RBIs.
Before the Reds, Terry played for the Montreal Expos from 1981 to 1985 and the Chicago Cubs in 1986. He was selected by the Cleveland Indians in 1988.

He then pitched for the Brewers for a year from 1989 to 1990 before retiring as a player. Seven years later, in 1997, he returned to the game as a manager and managed the Phillies, Boston Red Sox, and Cleveland for the next two and a half decades before retiring.
