The Carolina Hurricanes forward, Skyler Brind’Amour, scored his first NHL goal in front of his father, head coach Rod Brind’Amour.
With time winding down in the first half, Skyler slammed in the puck as he skated toward the net for his first tally in the league against the Ottawa Senators on April 17, 2025.
However, the Carolina Hurricanes lost the match with a score of 5-7.
Brind’Amour made his NHL debut on April 16, 2025, against the Montreal Canadiens.
Earlier, he enjoyed a standout collegiate hockey career at Quinnipiac University from 2019 to 2023, establishing himself as one of the nation’s premier two-way forwards.
As a senior in 2022-23, he was honored as the Gladiator ECAC Best Defensive Forward, named to the ECAC Third Team All-Conference, and earned All-Academic recognition.
He played in all 41 games, led the nation with 500 faceoff wins, and set career highs with 14 goals, 18 assists, and 32 points.
His three game-winning goals included the decisive tally against Ohio State in the NCAA Bridgeport Regional Final.
Over his four seasons, Brind’Amour demonstrated consistent growth, strong defensive instincts, and elite faceoff prowess, finishing with 1,574 wins and multiple clutch performances.

Skyler Brind’Amour, 27, was born July 27, 1999, in Raleigh, North Carolina. His father, Rod Brind’Amour, and mother, Kelle Sullivan Gardner, have supported him in achieving his ice hockey dreams.

“Right now, it doesn’t really sink in too much because it’s a loss,” “He did turn it over on the one goal, so that cost us a goal. It’s been a long journey for him, and I’m happy that he can at least say that he tucked one in, so that’s good.”5

“It’s interesting,” “The more the game is getting closer, the more I’m getting nervous about it for that reason as a parent more than anything, but I have a job to do and that’s been the focus here all along. Trying to get our guys prepared and you want each player to be prepared to give their best effort and that’s the task here.”
