At Cassville High School in Missouri, something really special happened that warmed up so many hearts across the country.

Nevaeh Hall, a freshman cheerleader who has Down syndrome, got the surprise of her life when her longtime best friend Wesly Lowry, a freshman wide receiver on the Cassville Wildcats football team, asked her to homecoming in the sweetest way possible.

Wesly plays as a freshman wide receiver on the Cassville Wildcats football team, and Nevaeh cheers right alongside the squad during the games.

Nevaeh and Wesly have known each other since they were in first grade. They grew up together, played together, and built this really close friendship over the years.

The cheerleader even tells people that Wesly is her boyfriend because they mean so much to each other.

One Friday night after a game, while Nevaeh was on the sidelines with her cheer friends packing up their things like she always does, Wesly came walking across the field holding up a big sign.

The sign said something cute like “Cheer me up and tackle Hoco with me.” When Nevaeh saw it and realized what was happening, she didn’t hesitate at all.

She just took off running straight into his arms with the biggest smile. Everyone around started cheering, phones were recording, and the whole moment felt like magic.

Nevaeh’s dad, Steven, was standing right there watching it all. He had tears in his eyes and later said how much her happiness means to him.

He thought it was wonderful that a young man like Wesly would do something so thoughtful for his daughter.

In no time, the video of that sweet proposal made the rounds and went completely viral.

Wesly later explained in an interview that this was going to be Nevaeh’s very first homecoming event, and he really wanted to make sure it became a night she would always remember.

He said they’ve always been close, and he just wanted to keep that friendship strong.

When someone asked what he’s learned from knowing Nevaeh all these years, he answered simply that Nevaeh is nothing but a very loving and caring person.

Then came the actual homecoming night, and Wesly made good on his promise. He showed up at Nevaeh’s house to pick her up, carrying flowers in one hand and a big princess balloon in the other.

He treated her exactly like royalty, just like he said he would.

People across the internet adored the gesture and left comments about what a great guy Wesley is. A comment read:

His mama raised a good boy into a man. It,s was blessed thank you Lord

Someone wrote that they hoped the two stay friends for a really long time because the friendship is just beautiful.

Another person said it put a smile on their face and reminded them how much kindness still exists.
