Police in Livermore Falls, Maine, are investigating a fight involving parents and a youth football coach during a game at Griffin Field on Saturday, October 10, 2026.
The incident drew widespread attention after a video showing part of the altercation circulated on social media.
The Livermore Falls Police Department is reviewing video footage and conducting interviews to establish what happened. Police Chief Abe Haroon said the completed investigation will be forwarded to the Androscoggin County District Attorney’s Office, which will determine whether criminal charges should be filed.
As of October 14, authorities had not issued any summonses or made any arrests in connection with the incident.
Video of Griffin Field Altercation Circulates Online
One of the people involved in the confrontation was Cpl. Dylan Rider, an Androscoggin County Sheriff’s deputy, county commissioner and Area Youth Sports football coach. Rider was reportedly off duty when the incident occurred. His son plays on the team, while another person involved, Donna Jewell, is the parent of a youth football player.
Jewell shared a short video of the altercation on Facebook and accused Rider of assaulting her and her husband. The recording shows Jewell approaching Rider while holding a puppy. She appears to make contact with him, and her hands move toward his face.
Rider then grabs her arms and pushes her to the ground as he moves toward a separate fight between two men.
One of those men was Rider’s father.
Rider offered a different account of the confrontation in a Facebook post. He said Jewell punched and scratched him, while alleging that his father was punched in the stomach by the other man involved in the fight.
Jewell’s video attracted more than 1,300 comments, reflecting the significant attention the incident received online. She later said in a Facebook post that an attorney had advised her and her husband not to discuss the matter publicly any further.
Rider’s attorney, Andre “AJ” Hungerford, declined to comment on the details while the investigation remains ongoing.
Youth Sports Organization Launches Formal Review
Area Youth Sports has also begun reviewing the incident under its bylaws and code of conduct. President Nixon Ortiz said the organization’s primary concerns are the safety and well-being of young athletes, families and the wider community.
In an email, Ortiz confirmed that all involved parties had been asked to stay away from practices, games and other Area Youth Sports events for the remainder of the season while the review continues. The temporary measure is intended to give the organization time to assess the circumstances before making final decisions.
The Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office is conducting its own internal review. Chief Deputy William Gagne confirmed Tuesday that the office was aware of the incident and was actively looking into the matter.
The police investigation and organizational review remain ongoing. The district attorney’s office will consider the police report once it is completed and determine whether charges are warranted.
For now, no criminal charges have been announced, and officials have not released a final determination about responsibility for the altercation.
