Buddy and his wife, Mey, shared many devoted years raising their children together until his tragic passing at age 68.

Buddy Bailey was a respected baseball manager who spent nearly 40 years coaching in the Minor Leagues and in Venezuela.

Born as a Welby Sheldon Bailey in Pennsylvania, he played briefly as a catcher before becoming a manager in 1983.

He worked with teams in the Braves, Red Sox, and Cubs organizations, winning over 2,400 games and earning several Manager of the Year awards.

Additionally, he led Venezuela’s Tigres de Aragua to six championships and a Caribbean Series title in 2009.

Bailey, who was known for helping young players grow and succeed, tragically passed away on September 23, 2025, at the age of 68.
