Alexandra Popp parents, Andreas and Iris Popp, are both German. Popp’s parents are her greatest inspiration to move forward and be successful.
Alexandra Popp-Hoppe was born in April 1991 in Witten, Germany. She is a German soccer player who plays as a striker for VfL Wolfsburg and the German national team.
Before this, Alexandra was committed to FCR 2001 and also to FFC Recklinghausen.
She was also the captain of the National team for the FIFA Women’s World Cup in February 2019. The striker also won a gold medal in the 2016 Summer Olympics.
On June 22, 2019, she made her 100th appearance for Germany and also scored the game’s first goal against Nigeria in the round of 16.
Additionally, the two goals Germany scored in their semi-final victory against France at Euro 2022 were both scored by Popp.
She has been performing very well in the ongoing 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Alexandra Popp Parents Are Her Biggest Inspiration
Alexandra Popp was born to Andrea and Iris Popp. Popp was raised with her brother, Dennis Popp. According to her brother’s Instagram, he is an animal lover.
Alexandra’s parents prefer to stay out of all the limelight that their daughter’s success brings. So, there isn’t much information given about their personal lives.
However, Andrea and Iris have always supported their daughter in pursuing the career she wanted.
As a child, the striker used to show the skills she learned about soccer, and she used to get praised by her parents. That was also one of the reasons she kept moving forward toward her dream.
Alexandra’s parents have always been supportive, and whenever she feels down about losing a game or anything, her mother and father are always there to cheer her up.
Of course, there are some players who are Popp’s inspiration and role models, but Iris and Andrea will always be her No. 1 inspirations in life.
Alexandra Popp’s Childhood
Talking about Alexandra’s childhood, she spent most of her early years in Witten. The player had been passionate about soccer since childhood.
As a kid, she attended an academy for soccer to improve her skills and receive the training required to play professionally.
Alex played soccer with guys when she was growing up and nearly gave up the sport when she had to join a girls’ squad at the age of 14.
She thought that the women’s squad at her club couldn’t play soccer correctly since she was brought up playing with boys.
However, Alex eventually got used to it and learned that the girls were actually playing more decently.
It looks like a strange coincidence that Alex got into Berger Feld’s Gesamtschule at the age of 17.
The school was situated near the grounds of FC Schalke 4. The school saw this opportunity and started to cooperate with FC to develop and encourage soccer talents.
Famous players like Mesut Ozil, Manuel Neuer, Julian Draxler, etc., are alumni of the school.
Since the striker was the only female student there, it took her some time to get used to that circumstance.
She had a difficult time adjusting to life as a supporter of Borussia Dortmund and FC Schalke 04’s young players.
