Coming from Senegal heritage, Georges mentioned in an interview that he is proud to be one of the rare Senegalese to represent the country in the NBA. The athlete even said that he would be proud to be able to play for the national team.
Niang has been to Senegal a few times with his father and has always been interested in playing for the country.
Moreover, his agent played in the Senegal national team and often talked to him about basketball in Senegal and Africa in general.
George mentioned getting advice on being an NBA player from Gorgui Dieng, a Senegalese professional basketball player.
Furthermore, Gorgui also explained to him the potential of the Senegalese selection and the possibilities for development in the country and across the continent.
Niang admitted that AfroBasket is a tough tournament, where only a few talented players make themselves known to the public. He has a goal of representing Senegal someday.
