During her freshman and second years at Harvard-Westlake School, she showcased her talent by scoring an impressive 48 goals in 18 games.

Currently shining as a forward, she represents NWSL team Angel City F.C. and proudly dons the jersey of the United States women’s national team.

Alyssa Thompson, the youngest player in 28 years to represent the United States in the World Cup, has made a remarkable journey to professional soccer with Angel City F.C.

She was born in Los Angeles to a Peruvian father and an African American and Filipino mother.

Alyssa started playing soccer at age five and quickly rose through the ranks of the youth soccer system.

Later in 2019, she earned the title of Gatorade National Player of the Year, standing out as an exceptional player at Harvard-Westlake School.

Thompson made her professional debut with the Portland Thorns in 2020. In 2021, she was named to the USWNT for the first time and made her World Cup debut.

Likewise, she became the youngest player to represent the USWNT in the World Cup since 1991.

Thompson is a proud role model for players of color. She is one of a few black players on the USWNT and is one of the few players of color to have represented the United States in the World Cup.

Alyssa Thompson missed her high school graduation and senior prom in 2020 to play in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL).

Her decision to go pro paid off after making the U.S. Women’s National Team’s 2023 World Cup roster.

Thompson’s teammates were eager to help her celebrate her prom night. They surprised her with a prom-themed photo shoot on the field on her prom day.
