Does Andy Roddick Have A Sister? Brother John And Lawrence

This article was last updated by on

Andy Roddick, a former tennis player, grew up playing tennis with two brothers: John & Lawrence Roddick. Fans query if the 2003 US Open winner has a sister, well, he doesn’t have any.

Roddick followed his older brother John Roddick to tennis & began to excel under his guidance & mentorship. However, a back injury cut short John’s playing career, opting for a career as a tennis coach.

On the other, Lawrence, unlike his brothers, didn’t pursue a professional career in tennis.

Andy Roddick, the former world No. 1 (in 2003), turned professional in 2000 & was active for a decade & a half before retiring in 2015. He currently splits his time as a tennis analyst & philanthropist.

Born on August 30, 1992, Roddick was renowned as the raw-boned paragon of power tennis. His athleticism and powerful serve propelled him to the highest world rankings.

Throughout his playing career, he had 32 career singles titles, inclusive of five Masters tournaments.

Roddick reached four major finals, i.e., Wimbledon in 2004, 2005, and 2009, and the US Open in 2006. Unfortunately, he lost them all to rival Roger Federer each time.

Following his retirement, he was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2017.

Does Andy Roddick Have A Sister?

Roddick, the youngest of three boys, came from a well-to-do family. His father, Jerry Roddick, was a businessman, whereas his mother, Blanche Corell.

He grew up with his two elder brothers: Lawrence Roddick & John Roddick, who were tennis prospects at a young age. However, the former tennis star doesn’t have a sister.

Let’s get more about his brothers.

Andy Roddick Brother John Roddick: A Tennis Coach

Andy was not the first tennis prodigy in his family, in fact, he learned to play tennis by tagging along with his older brother John Roddick (b. July 4, 1976).

John has been the director of tennis at the University of Central Florida since May 29, 2016. Moreover, he serves as the head coach of the UCF’s tennis team.

According to his LinkedIn, he was the men’s tennis head coach at the University of Oklahoma (June 2009- May 2016).

From June 2002 to June 2009, he served as the director of tennis at Roddick Total Tennis.

John, the former board member of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, was also a tennis player but didn’t get the hype of success like his younger brother Andy.

He was a four-time All-American at the University of Georgia & was considered one of the top US juniors. However, a back injury sidelined his playing career.

As a result, he transited to a tennis coach & was an assistant coach at his alma mater for two years until 2002.

Moreover, he served as the ATP Tour coach for his younger brother Andy Roddick to the 2006 U.S. Open Final, the 2006 Cincinnati Master Series Title, and the 2008 Dubai Title.

His coaching experience was also with other ATP pros like Mardy Fish & Olga Govortsova.

Lawrence Reddick, The Eldest Brother, Is A Chiropractor

Andy’s oldest brother, Lawrence, lives in San Antonio.

Even though he & his brothers grew up practicing tennis in their backyard, he never saw himself in the venture as a tennis professional.

He graduated from the University of Nebraska, where he was an All-American springboard diver. Then, Lawrence went to the Texas Chiropractic College & obtained a Doctorate in Chiropractic.

Currently, he is a chiropractor specialist in San Antonio & works at Texas Tricare Rehabilitation.

But the tennis genes didn’t remain far away from Lawrence as his son J.C. Roddick (nephew of Andy) developed an interest in tennis.

Moreover, in December 2015, when his son won the Orange Bowl tennis tournament, he was there to cheer him.

Interestingly, Lawrence used to attend the same tournament for his younger brothers years ago. Even after all these years, seems nothing has really changed in the Roddick family!
