The boxer breezed through the competition to win the 2nd AIBA African 2008 Olympic Qualifying Tournament; the final was a win over DR Congo’s Herry Saliku Biembe.

Jack’s next fight was scheduled to occur on December 12, 2014, at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas, on the undercard of Erislandy Lara vs. Ishe Smith.

Sierra accumulated 20 pounds between the weigh-in and the opening bell and entered the ring weighing 192 pounds.

From the start, Jack dominated the fight. Round 6 was the final point. Sierra was unable to respond to Jack’s combinations. At 1:58, the referee halted the fight, awarding Jack the TKO victory.

Injury

Badou Jack suffered a horrific head cut during his WBC Silver light heavyweight title fight against Marcus Browne.

When the fighters collided heads in the seventh round, the Swedish boxer had suffered a deep wound on his forehead that bled profusely.

Despite the blood-splattered injury, Jack was allowed to continue and somehow made it to the end of the fight.

He was eventually defeated by a unanimous points decision and was immediately taken to the hospital for medical attention.

Tony Weeks, the referee, had called a timeout immediately following the injury to allow for treatment, and Jack was allowed to continue.

An uppercut widened the wound, but the Swedish wrestler refused to give up.

Brief Break

In an interview with the Swedish news agency TT in November 2018, Jack revealed that he would not fight again this year and would most likely return in early January 2019.

As they traded words on Instagram, light heavyweight prospect Marcus Browne (22–0, 16 KOs) challenged Jack to a fight in an ‘open division.’ Both boxers stated that they were ready to fight the next battle.

After WBA champion Dmitry Bivol’s successful defense against veteran boxer Jean Pascal a few days later, Jack stated he was open to fighting him.

Jack went on to say that he did not decline a fight against Bivol in 2018.

Browne was ranked first and second by the WBA and WBC and seventh by the WBO, while Jack was ranked second by the WBA, WBC, and WBO.

Browne felt ‘honored and privileged to fight on a major PPV undercard. The boxer was also ecstatic about the prospect of facing his first big name on his way to becoming a household name.
