Veteran NFL coach Todd Monken and his wife, Terri Monken, have moved through 13 times throughout the former’s coaching career. The couple might be making another move soon to Chicago if things go as planned for the Ravens coach.
Monken, 59, has interviewed for the head coach position with two NFL teams, the Chicago Bears and the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Senior NFL reporter Albert Breer wrote on X that Monken was one of the names that the Bears discussed early in their research, and the situation is more serious than the organization has let on.
When asked about the interviews, Monken said it’s unfortunate the NFL hiring cycle has coaches interview during the playoffs, acknowledging it was not ideal.

The Ravens will face off against Josh Allen’s led Buffalo Bills in the NFL Division Round, and the latter are favorites to win.
With MVP favorite Lamar Jackson, Todd Monken has turned the Ravens into an offensive juggernaut. The Ravens averaged 424.9 offense yards, making them the No.1 offensive team in the regular season.
But Monken isn’t the only coach the Bears have interviewed. In the past few days, the Bears have interviewed more than ten people for the position. Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady is also one of the guys the Bears have looked at.
So, there’s a good chance that the Ravens vs. Bills game might decide the head coach position in Chicago.
Todd Monken Met His Wife, Terri Monken At A Funeral
In a 2017 Bay Magazine interview, Todd Monken shared how he met his wife, Terri Monken.
Terri and Todd were students at the College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, Illinois.
Back then, the NFL coach was on the baseball team, and his future wife was a pom-pom girl.
Terri said they knew each other but never met. It was an unfortunate accident that brought them together.
Three men had died in a car accident; one of them was Terri’s friend, and another guy was on Todd’s baseball team.

After a while, they sat across from each other at a restaurant, and Terri was mesmerized by his blue and the vulnerability of a tough football guy to show his emotions.
Terri recalled, “This was the first time I had lost someone my age. My emotions were raw.”
Speaking on their relationship, Todd said,
We joke about it, but the Lord works in mysterious ways. We would not have met if not for losing a loved one.

Todd and Terri dated for six years and tied the knot in 1991.
In the Baltimore Ravens interview, Terri shared that they have moved 13 times since their wedding.
She said, “You get used to the smell of cardboard. I don’t think Todd’s got ‘settled’ in his bones.
He loves to chase opportunities. And every step, for the most part, has been a phenomenal move.”
Football Is In The Blood of The Monken Family
Todd Monken and his wife, Terri Monken, have only one child, a son named Travis Monken.
Recently, Purdue announced Travis as their offensive quality control coach.
Before joining Purdue, Travis graduated from Oklahoma State with a business degree and worked as their student football assistant.
But Todd and Travis aren’t the only Monkens who have a career on the football field.
Todd’s dad, Bob Monken, had four brothers. The five Monken brothers had seven sons, and all seven sons became football coaches.
One of Todd’s older brothers is Jeff Monken, the head coach of the United States Military Academy’s football team.

Jeff started his coaching career with the University of Hawai’i and coached at Arizona State, Buffalor, Morton HS, and Navy.
The two cousins never crossed paths despite starting their career the same year.
Todd’s older brother, Ted Monken, is the defensive coordinator at Glenbard South High School, and his other brother, Tony Monken, is an assistant at Vernon Hills High School.
The three brothers lost their father, Bob Monken, in August 2024.
Bob coached Lake Park High School in Illinois for 30 years, leading the team to a 151-112 record, and won conference championships in three decades.
In Case You Didn’t Know
- While working as the offensive coordinator for the Georgia Bulldogs, Todd Monken won back-to-back national championships. Georgia won 33–18 against Alabama, and in the 2022 season, Georgia won 65–7 against TCU.
- Todd Monken’s first NFL coaching duty came with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2007 as the Wide Receivers Coach. The Jaguars have interviewed Monken for the head coach position, and this could potentially be the coach’s homecoming.
