Nick Danbrowney, a Barnegat, New Jersey native and professional baseball player, passed away this week at an untimely age, leaving his family, friends, and loved ones heartbroken.
According to a GoFundMe page, Nick Danbrowney lost his life in a fatal car accident; however, his family and friends have not provided further details regarding his untimely death as they are currently grieving his loss.
Nick Danbrowney touched the lives of many with his exceptional athletic journey and his humble and funny nature.
His loved ones remember Nick as a comedic, outgoing, and endlessly entertaining person whose energy and spirit left an impact on everyone lucky enough to know him.
Furthermore, the late Nick was excelling in his baseball career and recently began his professional journey with the Bakersfield Train Robbers, an independent minor league team in California.
Beginning his professional journey playing for the Bakersfield Train Robbers in the Pecos League, Nick showcased his skills during the 2025 playoffs.
As a batter, he had a standout performance in his long game, going 2-for-3 with a home run, 3 RBIs, and a .667 batting average.
In his pitching debut during the playoffs, he made one appearance, tossing 6 innings with a 7.50 ERA, 7 strikeouts, and 5 walks.
Alongside his professional career, Nick Danbrowney was also excelling in his collegiate career playing for Ramapo College’s baseball team.
The Late Nick Danbrowney Became Ramapo’s All-time Strikeout Leader a Few Months Prior To His Untimely Demise
A few months prior to his tragic accident, Nick Danbrowney won the hearts of many with his remarkable performance breaking Ramapo’s All-time strikeout record in a 10-6 NCAA win over Johnson & Wales.
Playing for the Ramapo College baseball team, Nick Danbrowney (7-3) pitched the last 2.2 innings to help his team win. He struck out four batters, including his 223rd career strikeout, setting a new program record.
A month before breaking Ramapo’s all-time strikeout record, Nick also recorded his 200th career strikeout in a 5-3 road win over WPU, becoming the third Roadrunner in program history to reach the milestone.
Standing at a towering height of 6’1” and playing as a pitcher and infielder, Nick Danbrowney led Ramapo’s baseball team in several victories.
During his freshman year, Nicholas ‘Nick’ made 11 appearances on the mound, including ten starts, and struck out 45 over 58.2 innings of work, recording three wins.
He also became NJAC Rookie Pitcher of the Week thrice. Similarly, during the 2023 season, Nick recorded a team-best 6-2 record and led the team with 58 strikeouts in 54.1 innings pitched.
During the 2024 season, the late Nick started all 10 appearances on the mound and struck out 50 batters in 58 innings pitched.
Prior to Ramapo College, Danbrowney showcased his amazing baseball skills at Barnegat High School, where he won several honorable titles, including First Team All-Shore Conference, Second Team All-State, B-South Hitter of the Year, and many more.
His contribution to the community and the sports field will always be remembered.
Nick Danbrowney is survived by his parents, Raymond and Lisa Danbrowney, brother Ray Danbrowney, and the whole family.
