American college volleyball player Bekka Allick is the daughter of Colleen Ziegelbein and Melvin Allick. Born to athletic parents in Texas, Bekka and her five siblings grew up competing against one another.

Her mother, Colleen, was a basketball player at Northwest Missouri State. Similarly, her dad, Melvin, who works at the Texas Department of Public Safety, was a swimmer at UNLV.

Currently a business management student at the University of Nebraska, Allick plays as a middle blocker for the Cornhuskers. Meanwhile, her parents have been a constant source of guidance and support, which she believes is crucial in her journey ahead.

The University of Nebraska sophomore Bekka Allick began her sports journey playing for VC Nebraska. Aside from that, she played high school volleyball for two different schools for two years each, namely Waverly and Lincoln Star.

While with the VC Nebraska, she led her club to a national championship win once. Aside from that, she was a member of the U-18 US girl’s team that participated in the FIVB U18 World Championship in 2021.

Moreover, her senior high school performance earned her the Nebraska Gatorade Player of the Year Award in 2022.

Bekka Allick was born to her parents, Colleen Ziegelbein and Melvin Allick, on January 26, 2004, in Texas, United States. Together, her parents had six kids, including Bekka.

However, Colleen and Melvin separated when Bekka was very young, and she started living in her stepdad’s house in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Bekka’s biological dad, Melvin, was born and raised in Texas, where he attended James Madison High School. After school, he studied General Studies at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas, where he was a swimmer.

He later enrolled in various institutions, earning degrees in different subjects, including occupational education from Wayland Baptist University and a Master’s in Public Affairs from LBJ School, Texas.

He currently lives in Texas and has been working as a Trooper Training Academic Lieutenant for nearly three years. 

Speaking of her mother, Colleen Ziegelbein was originally from College Springs, Iowa. After school, she attended Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, where she graduated with a degree in psychology.

Colleen has been teaching special education since 2013. She currently resides in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Bekka’s Stepdad Bill Died In 2013

Bekka Allick’s mother, Colleen, married Bill Ziegelbein from Lincoln in 2011 after separating from her previous husband, Melvin. Sadly, he died in a motorcycle crash just two years later.

According to the South Dakota Highway Patrol, Bill and Colleen had an accident while riding amid a Sturgis motorcycle rally towards the north of White River, South Dakota.

As per the same report, the couple met with such an accident after Bill lost control of the vehicle, left the road, and struck a post by the road. To make the matter worse, the couple were not wearing helmets.

While Bill died on the spot, Colleen suffered life-threatening injuries. Thankfully, she survived, after which she has been looking after eight children, six from her and two from Bill’s previous relationship.

Originally from Polk, Bill Ziegelbein was a former collegiate football player. He played for the Nebraska Cornhuskers from 1987 to 1991, appearing in 24 games.

Bill was only 44 at the time of his death.
