Morgan, a Proud Chicago Native, Graduated with the Class of 1975 from Chicago Vocational High School.
His connection to CVS ran deep, shaping his life and career. After high school, Andre pursued higher education with the same dedication he brought to everything else.
He studied art at Lewis University, journalism at Chicago State University, graduating in 1978, and later continued his studies in art at Governors State University.
His diverse academic background showed his curiosity and love for learning, qualities he would later instill in his students.
Andre’s professional journey was equally impactful. From 1986 to 1997, he served as an educator in the Chicago Public Schools system, inspiring countless students with his knowledge and enthusiasm.
In 2021, he joined Valiant College Preparatory as a teacher, a role he held until his passing. His ability to connect with students and athletes alike made him a beloved figure in every institution he served.
Andre Morgan was more than just an educator; he was a mentor who left an indelible mark on the CVS sports community.
As an assistant coach, he played a pivotal role in guiding the varsity baseball team to a City Championship in 1987.
For one former player, Andre’s influence was life-changing:
“He was the reason I got called up to play varsity as a sophomore. We talked all the time about CVS, baseball, the Hall of Fame, alumni events, clothing, and, of course, Chicago Bears football!”

“You don’t have to like each other, but you do have to respect each other!” This simple yet profound principle became a guiding light for Drew and many others, reflecting Andre’s belief in the power of respect and teamwork.
Keith “KayCee” Abraham remembered Andre’s vibrant energy as a coach, recalling how he would shout, “Hey Herky, get ready!” during games.

“I cannot believe it. I met Andre and Nicole as cheer parents for their granddaughter. Then I found out he was a Cavalier. I am truly heartbroken to hear the news.”
