WNBA star Betnijah Laney husband, Jordan Hamilton, is also a sportsperson who plays basketball for the Nishinomiya Storks of the Japanese B.League.

Laney is a professional American basketball player in the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA), playing for the New York Liberty.

Born on October 29, 1993, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the WNBA player started playing when she was 10 years old. Her mother was the main reason why she played basketball competitively.

She played college basketball during her time at Rutgers University. The Chicago Sky selected Laney in the 2015 WNBA draft as the 17th overall pick.

On July 16, 2015, Laney signed with the Perth Lynx for the 2015-16 season. 

On November 11, 2015, Betnijah was named to the WNBL’s Team of the Week, and on January 13, 2016, she earned the title for the second time.

In 2020, she won the Most Improved Player Award and was named to the WNBA All-Defensive Team.

Betnijah Laney and Jordan Hamilton tied the knot on June 25, 2022. Most parts of the relationship were private; the couple even got engaged secretly.

Jordan Hamilton is an American professional basketball player who was born on October 6, 1990. Hamilton was born to Greg and Karen Hamilton, and he also grew up with five brothers.

The full name of this player is Jordan Christian Hamilton. Jordan played college basketball for the University of Texas.

In addition to that, Hamilton participated in the 2018 edition of the basketball tournament for Team Challenge ALS.

Christian was selected by the Dallas Mavericks in the 2011 NBA draft, 26th overall.

The player became the 2017 FIBA South America Basketball League champion.

In the same year, Jordan also became the champion of the Dominican Republic Basketball League.

Betniajh is the daughter of Yolanda Laney, an assistant city attorney for Atlantic City, but her father has been absent most of her life.

Yolanda played basketball for University City High School and was also on the Cheney University team.

Yolanda went to the women’s first Final Four under head coach Vivian Stringer in 1982. But their team lost against Louisiana Tech in the championship (NCAA title) game.

The player also has a younger brother named Shakaris Laney, who was also involved in basketball. Shakaris played college football for the Central Connecticut State Blue Devils.

Laney has mentioned that she wants to give credit to her mother for her success, as Yolanda used to push the player to move forward.

“My mother told me that basketball means nothing if you don’t get good grades,” said Laney.

Betnijah also explained that she didn’t get too excited about the opportunities she got related to basketball.

Laney wanted to balance her studies and sports, as she was taught both are equally important.

Yolanda has mentioned that Vivian is a godmother to her daughter and also a team member on the Cheney team.
