Joshua McGlothlin, a Centreville, Alabama native and standout athlete, passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2025, in a tragic car accident at an untimely age of 18.
According to reports, Joshua McGlothlin tragically lost his life early Saturday morning in a single-vehicle crash in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama.
Around 3:30 a.m., the 2017 Ford F-150 he was driving left the roadway, struck a tree, and overturned near the 68-mile marker on U.S. Highway 82, roughly six miles west of Brent, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.
McGlothlin was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Joshua McGlothlin Was a Standout Football Player at Bibb County High School
The late Joshua McGlothlin was a talented football player from Bibb County High School in Centreville, Alabama.
A member of the Class of 2025, Joshua wore jersey #74 and excelled as both a fullback (FB) and middle linebacker (MLB) for the boys’ varsity football team. Standing at 5’8″, he had been a key contributor to Bibb County’s football program since his sophomore year in 2021.
During his tenure, the team achieved a 9-3 record in his sophomore season and placed second in their region with a 6-1 record, earning a state ranking of #112.
Known for his dedication, skill, and leadership on both offense and defense, Joshua’s contributions left a lasting impact on his team, and his memory will continue to inspire those who knew him.

The Centreville, Alabama community has also created a fundraiser to help Joshua’s family cover the funeral and memorial expenses and ease their financial burden during this difficult time.
Joshua McGlothlin is survived by his mother, Candace McGlothlin; his sister, Madison McGlothlin Tucker; his brother-in-law, Sam Tucker; his nephew; his grandparents; his uncles; his aunts; and the entire family.

His mother, Candace McGlothlin, has been serving as a front-line manager at Averitt since 2018. She earned her Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Psychology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and her Bachelor of Applied Science in General Studies from Shelton State Community College.
