Blaine Lacher Obituary- The former Boston Bruins player Blaine Lacher unexpectedly passed away on January 29. The former hockey player retired from the sport in 2002 and was said to have moved back to Medicine Hat, Alberta. 

A one-season wonder, Blaine Lacher’s 1994 season with the Bruins is thoroughly remembered by several hockey fans. In an interview in 2017, when Lacher was asked if it bothered him to be known for a short career, he said it never did.

But Lacher said he regretted ending his career hastily and wished he would’ve gone to Germany and played in a lesser league and enjoyed the game for a while. 

Lacher is survived by his son, Quin Lacher, whom he was raising singlehandedly, in Medicine Hat, Alberta.

As per Blaine Lacher obituary, the former hockey player unexpectedly died on January 29. The former Bruins player had kept away from public eyes all these years.

An outstanding athlete at Lake Superior State, Blaine Lacher won an NCAA title in 1992. A year later, he set an all-time consecutive scoreless streak at 375:01 minutes. In his three years as a collegiate hockey player, Lacher posted a career record of 49-13-7.

Despite his collegiate record, no NHL team drafted him. But in 1994, the Boston Bruins thought of taking a chance at him. And the youngster ended up surprising everyone.

He had a brilliant rookie season, with an impressive record of 19-11-2. But he couldn’t keep the magic in his second year. Bruins and Lacher floundered early in their second season, with Lacher being sent to play with Providence Bruins in the AHL.

He played nine games for the Providence Bruins before he was sent to play for the Cleveland Lumberjacks in the IHL. In 1996, Boston bought out his contract, and Lacher signed with Grand Rapids Griffins. 

An article from 2013 mentioned that Lacher had moved back to Medicine Hat and worked for Goodyear building tires. He was also said to be involved with the minor hockey scene in Medicine Hat. 

Blaine Lacher Family

Blaine Lacher family released a statement soon after his passing. The statement mentioned Blaine’s family members, including his parents, son, Quin, and sisters.

The statement also read that a private family gathering would be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel. It is believed that Blaine was previously married but had been divorced, as his wife’s name hasn’t been mentioned anywhere. 

Blaine’s mother, Sandra Lacher, passed away on November 5, 2013, at age 70. His father, Irwin, and mother, Sandra, were married for 48 years before her passing.

Blaine has two sisters-Lana and Faye Lacher. Faye Lacher is a branch manager and corporate consultant at Maritime Travel and a Medicine Hat College graduate.

Faye hasn’t made any posts on her Facebook handle about her brother’s demise. She was last active on the same day as his demise, with her last post being related to her employer, Maritime Travel. 

Faye has two kids, Jordan and Nolan, and her daughter, Jordan, graduated from the University of Alberta last year. Blaine’s other sister, Lana, is also a Medicine Hat College graduate but remains away from social media. 

Previously, it was reported that Blaine’s son, Quin, had followed in his footsteps and played hockey in the SCAHL U18 league for Medicine Hat Hounds.
