The Carrizo Springs, Texas, community is mourning the untimely death of their beloved native and athlete, Blake Sweeten, who passed away recently at an untimely age.
Blake Sweeten died on Tuesday, October 28, 2025; however, his family hasn’t revealed the details regarding the actual cause of his untimely demise.
Sweeten touched the lives of many with his amazing athletic skills and kind, cheerful nature.
He began his sports journey from a very young age and excelled in multiple sports, including basketball, volleyball, and baseball.
Similarly, Blake Sweeten was a dedicated student-athlete at Carrizo Springs High School in Texas, playing for the Wildcats and graduating in the class of 2023.
Standing 6 feet tall, he played both point guard and shooting guard on the basketball court, earning a spot on the varsity roster (#11) and contributing to the baseball team (#15).
In his senior basketball season (2022–23), Blake appeared in 28 games and averaged 7.6 points, 1.5 assists, and 1.4 rebounds. Highly committed to both academics and athletics, he maintained an impressive 3.80 GPA.
While it is unclear whether Blake Sweeten continued his athletic journey in college, he was attending Sul Ross State University on scholarship and pursuing a degree in Business Management.

Blake Sweeten is survived by his parents, Clifton Sweeten and Samantha Masar Sweeten; his elder sister, Brylee Sweeten; grandparents; uncles; aunts; cousins; his partner, Eliana Mata; and the entire family.
While his parents haven’t released any statement regarding the untimely passing of their son, as they are currently grieving, Clifton and Samantha often share pictures of Blake Sweeten on their social media expressing their love and pride.
Like Blake, his elder sister, Brylee Sweeten, is also an amazing athlete. She played volleyball at Carrizo Springs High School and Sul Ross State University.
