Destiny Ramsey, passionate owner and head coach of Royalty Hoops Etc., recently reflected on one of the greatest joys of her coaching journey, watching her Royalty Hoops girls grow, evolve, and dominate on the court year after year.

A Bloomington, Illinois native and University High School graduate, Destiny has built an impressive basketball legacy.

She was a standout player herself, earning two-time All-American honors in college, including accolades like Region XXIV Freshman of the Year and NJCAA All-Star recognition, before transitioning into coaching.

After stints as an assistant women’s basketball coach at Illinois Central College and the University of Illinois Springfield, she founded Royalty Hoops Etc. in 2021.

What started as a skills training program has grown into a thriving operation offering year-round development for boys and girls, competitive travel teams from 11U to 17U, camps, and individual training.

Today, Destiny also serves as the girls’ junior varsity head coach at University High School, blending her community roots with her deep love for the game.

She recently shared on Facebook how special it feels to coach high school players in the same hometown where she grew up.

She wrote-:

“One of my favorite things about being a high school coach is the number of gyms I’m in with my Royalty Hoops Etc. girls matching up against each other,”

These moments, seeing former and current players from her program face off in school games, are a special reminder of the impact she’s making.

Many of the girls she trains in the summer through Royalty Hoops go on to shine for their high school teams, and Destiny gets a front-row seat to their progress.

She described how rewarding it is to help them refine their skills during off-season sessions, only to watch them dominate during the school season.

She shared-:

“Coaching them & helping them evolve their game in the summer, to watching them dominate at school is always so rewarding,”

Unfortunately, by the time they tried to snap a group photo after one such matchup, most of the girls had already headed out, leaving just a few to capture the moment.

Destiny’s enthusiasm shines through as she expresses her genuine love for what she does. “I LOVE WHAT I DO & can’t wait to see what these kids do over time,” she added.

Her program has expanded significantly, now boasting multiple travel teams and serving young athletes across Central Illinois, helping them build not just basketball skills but confidence and character.

But on that particular day, her focus shifted back to her own team.

“But, for now? IT’S GAME DAY AT HOME! 𝟝:𝟛𝟘𝕡 tip off vs MacArthur. We are going for win #𝟷𝟽 tonight.”

Via Facebook

She invited fans to come out if their schedules allowed, promising an exciting show: “Come check us out if your schedule allows – I hear we are pretty fun to watch.”

For Destiny Ramsey, coaching isn’t just about wins and losses, it’s about the long-term growth of her Royalty Hoops girls, the pride in seeing them compete against one another, and the daily thrill of building something meaningful in her community.
