Meet Bob Stoops Brother: Mark, Mike And Ron Stoops

The Stoops family is well-known in the American football world. Not only Bob Stoops but his four brothers have also been involved in football as a coach and collegiate player.

Robert Anthony Stoops, popularly known as ‘Bob Stoops,’ born on September 9, 1960, is an American football coach.

Currently, he is the head coach for the Arlington Renegades of the XFL.

Previously, he was the head football coach at the University of Oklahoma for 18 seasons from 1999 to 2016 season.

He led the Oklahoma Sooners to win the 2001 Orange Bowl while bagging a record of 191–48 over his career.

Robert also coached Oklahoma Sooners on an interim basis during the 2021 Alamo Bowl.

After Oklahoma, Stoops has been coaching the Renegades in the XFL since 2020 and has been re-signed for 2023. 

In his remarkable 18-year college tenure, he posted a 79.8 winning percentage. He is Oklahoma’s all-time winningest coach while being the only coach in history to win a national championship and all four BCS bowl games. 

A two-time national coach of the year and six-time Big 12 coach of the year, Stoops is the sixth Oklahoma coach to be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2021.

Bob Stoops Brother: Mark, Mike & Ron Stoops

Bob Stoops was born in Youngtown, Ohio, to Ron Stoops Sr. and Evelyn Stoops. He grew up alongside his three brothers; Mike Stoops, Ron Stoops Jr., and Mark Stoops.

Ron Stoops Jr

Ron Stoops Jr., the eldest of the Stoops brothers, is an assistant football coach at Youngstown State University (YSU) in Youngstown, Ohio.

Born in the late 1950s, he is YSU’s special team coordinator and has worked with linebackers since 2010.

Ron graduated from YSU in 1980 with a bachelor’s degree in education and got his master’s degree from Dayton.

Regarding his personal life, he is married to Bonnie and has four children, Melanie, Ron, Joey, and John.

Mike Stoops

Michael Joseph Stoops (born: December 13, 1961) is a former football player and coach like his brother Bob.

Mike currently serves as an inside linebackers coach at the University of Kentucky.

The younger brother of Bob, Mike, has also served as the head football coach at the University of Arizona from 2003 until the 2011 season.

Previously, he also served as an assistant football coach at the University of Iowa, Kansas State University, and the University of Oklahoma.

Mark Stoops

Mark Thomas Stoops (born: July 9, 1967) has been the head football coach at the University of Kentucky since the 2013 season.

The former Iowa Hawkeyes player is the all-time winningest head coach in the history of the Kentucky Wildcats football program.

On a personal note, Mark has two adorable sons, Will and Zach.

Bob Stoops: Wife And Kids

Bob Stoops has been married to Carol Stoops since 1988. Carol is a Mary Kay National Sales Director.

Together they are blessed with three children, a daughter Mackenzie, and twin sons, Isaac and Drake.

His son, Drake Stoops, is currently attending the University of Oklahoma and plays wide receiver for the Oklahoma Sooners.

Isaac, his other son, has coached at the high school level, as a wide receiver, for Moore High School.

Additionally, he volunteered as an analyst with the University of Oklahoma Sooners for the 2021-22 football season.

Talking about his daughter, Mackenzie currently attends the University of Oklahoma.
