Jrue Holiday, the NBA star player for the Boston Celtics, is married to Lauren Cheney Holiday and has two adorable kids, Jrue Tyler and Hendrix. Family is a big deal to Jrue; it shows in everything he does.
Jrue and Lauren’s love story began in 2008 at a UCLA women’s basketball game. Then a freshman basketball star, Jrue was mistaken for Darren Collison by a young fan seeking an autograph.
Lauren Cheney, a junior soccer player, playfully added, “Don’t worry; you’re cuter than Darren is.”
Although they were both in relationships at the time, their friendship blossomed, and after the 76ers drafted Jrue, their relationship turned romantic.
Their shared passion for sports and their alma mater led them to host annual basketball and soccer clinics at UCLA, further solidifying their bond and commitment to giving back.
After A Year-Long Engagement, Jrue And Lauren Exchanged Vows At A Beautiful Ceremony In Malibu, California, In 2013
In September 2016, Jrue showed just how much his family means to him when he took an indefinite leave from the New Orleans Pelicans to care for Lauren after she was diagnosed with a brain tumor.
The following month, Lauren underwent brain surgery, just weeks after giving birth to their daughter, Jrue Tyler. Thankfully, Lauren had surgery and recovered.
A few years later, they welcomed their son, Hendrix, into the world in 2020.
The Holidays love sharing pictures of their family life online. Their posts show how much they love each other, especially when celebrating birthdays or vacationing.
These posts offer a glimpse into the love and support that defines the Holiday family.
Jrue balances his role as a professional basketball player with his responsibilities as a father.
He always makes time for his wife and kids, often including them professionally.
The Holidays have also found ways to connect with Jrue’s teammates and their families off the court.
They organize events like swim classes, music classes, Halloween gatherings, and Easter celebrations, fostering community and camaraderie among the team members.
Jrue cherishes the joys of fatherhood, particularly the special moments he shares with his children.
He fondly recalls a Thanksgiving memory with his daughter, J.T., where he felt so grateful to share the holiday with his daughter.
One of Jrue’s most cherished moments is when J.T. comes to the court before home games to spend time with him.
He appreciates the experience of playing in front of his daughter, stating,
“It’s awesome. It’s a joy, I can always look into the stands and see where she is, and she can see me. It’s a great feeling. She loves basketball, she loves soccer, she loves sports. She loves to be active. When I bring her down to the court, she gets really excited. She starts saying ‘ball.”

He further added his experience of having children and stated,
“Having a child) changes you a lot, honestly. You have someone you have to take care of and someone who relies on you. They are the first priority now. It’s not you. It’s not your wife. It’s your child. It’s amazing to know you created someone and to see her grow. Bonding with her and having a relationship is something you can’t really describe; it’s something you have to go through. “
