The Moorabbin Bowling Club is mourning the sudden and unexpected death of Richard Rayner, who passed away on Saturday night, November 29, 2025.

Richard, who had just celebrated his 58th birthday last month, was a cherished member of the club and a beloved figure in the local community.

Richard’s passion for the sport of bowls quickly made him a familiar and respected presence at the club.

Introduced to the club last season by his best mate, Paul Taberner, he instantly became an integral part of the community.

This year, Richard expanded his involvement by joining the Saturday pennant team.

In a cruel twist of fate, he played a remarkable game just this past Saturday, celebrating a team victory with his teammates over a beer.

That joyful moment would tragically be the last time friends and fellow club members enjoyed his company.
