Garfield’s coach, Brandon Roy, and his wife, Tiana Bardwell, are living an ecstatic conjugal life. The pair tied the knot in 2010 and have been together for over 18.
After being together for a long time, they tied the knot in 2010. Together, they are proud parents to two; BJ and Mariah.
Brandon Dawayne Roy is an American basketball coach and retired player who played for the Portland Trail Blazers and Minnesota Timberwolves for six seasons in the NBA.
The 3X NBA All-Star retired as a player because of an injury and started his coaching journey.
Initially, he started as the head coach of the Nathan Hale High School’s basketball team in 2016.
In March 2017, he was awarded the Naismith National High School Coach of the Year award.
As a testament to his hard work and diligence, Garfield High School named Brandon the head coach of the boy’s basketball team.
He initially stepped down as a coach for undisclosed reasons during the 2018-19 season but returned the following season in 2019 and has continued working at Garfield Boys.
Brandon Roy Wife Tiana Bardwell: Married Life And Kids
Brandon Roy has been married to his longtime sweetheart Tiana Bardwell since 2010.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy reportedly started dating way before the birth of their first child, Brandon Jr., nicknamed BJ (b. March 27, 2007), in Seattle.
A year after the birth of their first child, Roy gathered enough courage to ask the big question to Tiana, and the couple got engaged in 2008.
Later, they welcomed their second child, Mariah Leilani, in January 2009 and tied the knot a year after on September 4, 2010
Likewise, the younger child, Mariah Leilani, was born in January 2009. A few months after the birth of their second child, the two decided to get married.
The wedding ceremony was held at his Portland home, and more than 200 guests were in attendance. However, none of his teammates were invited.
Brandon opened up about this and said, “It was all family. It just got so big, I couldn’t invite anyone, but I told all the guys,” Roy said. “I just felt the time was right; I was ready. I think I’m continuing to mature, but at my own pace.”
Moreover, life hasn’t always been ‘sunshine and rainbows’ for Roy. In a tragic event that took place on April 29, 2017, Roy was shot while attending an outdoor party and sustained minor injuries.
Furthermore, it was later revealed that he was at a party in his own grandmother’s home in Compton, California.
A Career That Ended Before It Started
Brandon Roy’s road to the NBA wasn’t a walk in the park.
Roy was so good at the game that the University of Washington retired his number 3 jersey after he left.
Moreover, he was selected No. 6 overall by the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2006.
Like all great athletes Brandon was destined for success until an injury changed his career.
A surgeon, who was looking after him, informed the media of news no athlete ever wants to hear.
His injury was irreparable, and there was no treatment, which forced him to retire from his professional playing career.
As a sports enthusiast, everyone hates talking about how a promising athlete destined for greatness saw the end of his career even before it started- all because of an injury he cannot control.
